Job Summary
REGISTRAR OF VOTERS
Temporary Election Worker SpecialistPetitions and Registration
Election Worker - $17.61 per hour Typical Work Schedule: Mon - Fri 8:00am - 4:30pm
(Possible Bilingual premium pay (English/Spanish)
Ideal Candidate should possess the following:
General Skills/Abilities:
• Basic use of personal computer in Windows environment
• The United States (all 50 states, including abbreviations, and their major cities)
• Read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions as well as established policies and procedures
• Perform repetitious tasks
• Ability to read handwritten information accurately
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Be courteous and respectful to co-workers, other county employees, representatives of outside agencies, and members of the public
Specific Skills/Abilities for Some Tasks:
• Work with minimal supervision
• Attention to detail
• Ability to sort alphabetically and numerically
• Ability to visually scan/check petition signatures
• Basic use of numbering machine (hand stamp)
• Customer service skills
• Telephone skills/phone operation - must be able to manage a large amount of incoming calls during election time
• Ability to handle difficult/disgruntled voters over the phone
Duties may include but are not limited to:
1. Call center operator (Incoming calls)
2. Process cancellation and inactivation of voter records
3. Assist in processing provisional ballots
4. Assist in processing petitions
5. Visually scan/check petition signatures and addresses
6. Number thousands of petition signatures using a hand stamp
7. Assist in verifying signatures on petitions
8. Sort and stamp Voter Registration Cards (VRCs) and incoming mail
9. Input data of VRCs into the voter database
10. Research voter records
11. Contact voters regarding deficient Voter Registration Forms
12. Voter file maintenance and updates
Essential Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time; may also need to go from one workstation to another
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
• Must be able to perform repetitive movements (i.e. opening mail, researching, typing/writing, filing, sorting, bending, lifting, scanning, stamping, and batching petition sections, etc.)
Additional Requirements/Information:
• Ability to work 10+ hour days 7:00am - 5:30pm, Mon - Sun.
• May include mandatory weekends and some extended hours, sometimes with little or no advance notice
• Election Day hours are 6:30am to 8:00pm
• Start date, duration of job, and work hours per day depend on workload and backlog
