The temporary assistant Director/Tutor Coordinator will serve as academic advisor to six athletic teams (approximately 125 students) and coordinate the office tutoring program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as academic advisor for students on six athletic teams (men's and women's cross country, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's golf, women's soccer), which is approximately 125 students. Participate in dual advising with major department advisor to ensure students are following appropriate academic curricula to meet graduate requirements and NCAA eligibility benchmarks. Refer students to appropriate support services within the department and on campus.
Coordinate tutoring program for the entire department. This includes hiring and training tutors, scheduling tutoring appointments, and processing the necessary paperwork for payment. Also serve as a member of the University Tutoring Consortium with staff from the Academic Resource Center, Math Learning Lab, and other on-campus tutoring offices.
Serves as the office liaison with the Center for Academic Success. This includes attending weekly staff meetings and coordinating all New Student Orientation activities for all first-year student-athletes. This includes regular communication with the Center for Academic Success, the Office of Student Engagement, and the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance.
Coordinate office assessment projects, including student satisfaction, needs assessment, tutor and graduate assistant surveys.
Assists the director, senior associate director, and the Faculty Athletics Director with the certification of student-athlete eligibility, as well as submission of NCAA Academic Progress Rating, Graduation Success Rate, and Federal Graduation Rate data.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
Desired Qualifications:
Master's degree. 1-2 years working with college students in an advising and/or academic support capacity
