Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of six health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. The School teaches approximately 600 PharmD students and 145 graduate students. This Tech Support Technician will provide computer support to the various constituents of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy including faculty, staff, and students supporting the administrative, academic, and research operations of the School. It is located on the UNC – Chapel Hill campus. This position works directly with members of the Information and Educational Technology Department, primarily the department’s System Administrator.
The position has responsibility for installing and maintaining the Eshelman School of Pharmacy’s educational, administrative, and research information computing environments. They will work closely with the UNC campus Information Technology Services Department to integrate school assets with the University infrastructure ensuring security policies are followed. Duties also include desktop support, computing purchasing and inventory, server management, system administration, user management, application and hardware advising, and user training.
This position will also serve as Tier 1 support of the School’s educational and meeting spaces.
Graduation from high school and one year in the field of technology related to the position’s role.
- Computer coursework may be substituted year-for- year for the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Journey level requires an additional six months experience
- Advanced level requires an additional one year of experience.
