About the Department:The 900+ positions of the Facilities Division service the students and staff of the University’s teaching, research/administrative space, and 2,240 acres of infrastructure. The Facilities Division provides design and building services, maintenance, custodial, landscape, solid waste removal, utility, mail, and motor pool services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The goal is to deliver cost effective services to the University, ensure completed projects and maintenance that conform to codes and regulations, while minimizing University liabilities and disruptions caused by the maintenance, repair, building, and equipment modifications to the University.
Essential Job Duties:As a Technology Support Technician, you will oversee computer network support, inventory management, and repair services for over 900 employees, encompassing 570 computers and 300+ mobile devices. Your role entails analyzing and maintaining computer inventory across the organization, adhering to specific replacement budgets outlined in various replacement plans. Additionally, you will troubleshoot and assess whether repairs or replacements are the most viable options, while also managing all mobile devices remotely and maintaining comprehensive computer inventory records.
Key Responsibilities and Duties to Include, but not limited to:
- Manage Google services utilizing web interfaces, including Chrome Device Management.
- Identify and resolve technical issues with staff computers, adhering to established reporting and tracking procedures.
- Maintain, update, and deploy computers while delivering excellent customer service across all Facilities departments.
- Develop and integrate external applications with ServiceNow and AiM systems, providing explanations and coaching on both technical and non-technical matters to diverse audiences.
- Organize and maintain documentation of computer and parts locations, lead informational sessions, and collaborate on projects with Business Systems and campus partners.
- Coordinate shipping and receiving of computers and parts with multiple vendors and troubleshoot wired and wireless networking connection issues, with experience in laptop hardware troubleshooting and replacement.
- Normal job hours are Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm.
- Occasional work outside these hours may be required.
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in the field of technology related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
- Must have significant prior experience troubleshooting and repairing virus and spyware infections on Windows PCs.
- Must be able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing with people of varied technical abilities.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodations
- Prefer experience with PC software installation, significant experience with multiple operating systems.
- Previous job experience in a customer facing role highly preferred.
- Experience with hardware repair of Lenovo, Dell and Apple laptops highly desired. A+ and Apple certifications highly desirable.
- Valid DL
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license is required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained.
