What This Role Is…

As a Technology Product Owner, the primary function of this position is to work directly with both the Business Stakeholders and the Technical Engineers to help implement major Run Tech and Tech Modernization strategies, such as refactoring backend services, daily processes, and reports. The Technology Product Owner is also responsible for Project Management activities including, scoping, planning, testing, validation, implementation, documentation, Gemba visits, user story creation and maintenance of certain components within CITY Furniture’s Tech Products. The Technology Product Owner will work on projects that directly support the CITY Technology Department’s Hoshin Goals and objectives, as well as the goals and objectives of the wider enterprise. Your contributions will ensure the success of the many core business systems at CITY Furniture. The role will also have a fast-path opportunity to become a Product Owner with demonstrated performance.

Position Title: Product Owner - Backend, Run Tech, Modernization

Reports To: Sr. Manager – Product Ownership

Location: Remote or Tamarac, FL

Department/Sub-Department: Technology / Product Office

What You’ll Do…

As a Technology Product Owner, your primary responsibilities will be to:

• Project Management & A3 Implementations - Collaborates with Stakeholders and Leadership to identify, develop, and release work deliverables to CITY’s Tech Products across all supported devices. Organizes, Refines, and Prioritizes work within the Tech Development Team(s). Responsible for the production of all necessary documentation and communications related to development project including but not limited to business requirement documents.  
• System Design, Analysis, & User Story Creation – Works closely with Sales and IT to gather requirements and assist with the design of applications and business systems. Works together with Developers and Business Analysts during the Discovery and Refinement phases of a project/user stories. Researches solutions, Interviews stakeholders, and investigates user feedback in order to establish clear requirements for the development teams. Makes some technical decisions where and when necessary. Responsible for creating User Stories once requirements are fully defined and approved by stakeholders, supporting team members, and the technology team. Ensures the backlog has sufficient cards properly prioritized that meet the criteria for Tech lead to build developer stories and estimate effort to deliver the feature(s).  
• Continuous Delivery - Works with all teams within the Tech Department to deliver new deployments to CITY Furniture’s Tech Products as fast, effective, and efficient as possible. Identify and optimize bottlenecks in the team’s overall production process, and engage in problem solving wherever necessary.  

Additional duties and responsibilities as a Technology Product Owner:

• Daily Standard Work Activities – Attend/lead sprint meetings including, daily stand ups, refinements, planning and EMDS meetings. Create reports and update KPIs as needed. Writing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Responding to incoming project requests or submitted tickets.  
• Financial Transaction Responsibilities - This position has the ability to request information including pricing from potential vendors during research phases. This position will not responsible for vendor or contractual negations on behalf of CITY Furniture, and will not be expected to handle cash, checks, credit cards, etc.  
• Decision Making Responsibilities -This position is responsible for the execution and prioritization of their Project Backlog based on the Project Prioritization Framework of the department. Responsible for accepting User Stories based on stated Acceptance Criteria and business needs and passing those stories on to Managers or other Stakeholders for additional approval when needed or appropriate. (5%)

What’s Required…

• Education & Work Experience:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or Information Technology from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2+) years of related experience in a technology/project environment and/or Agile software development activity.
• Work Environment & Schedule:
  • Monday-Friday
  • 40-hours work week
  • If Remote, travel up to 10%
• Physical Requirements:

• Technology Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Excel, Word, and Outlook, etc.)
  • Google Suite (i.e. Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)
  • Project Management Software (such as SmartSheets or MS Project)
  • Atlassian JIRA (or Similar)
  • Web design concepts (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Programming & Database concepts (Data Types, functions/methods, Queries, APIs)
  • Amazon Web Services
  • Agile/Scrum
  • Object-Oriented Systems Design
  • ERP systems experience
• Certifications / Licenses – Preferred but not required
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
  • Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO)
