ResponsibilitiesInternship Summary
The Rotational Internship Program with Ascension Technologies is designed to provide an on-the-job learning opportunity to gain "real world" IT work experience in a large IT service environment, supporting IT end users who work in a healthcare setting. Ascension Technologies aims to provide a working and learning environment where interns can develop technical and customer service skills through various work assignments, gaining the skills and competencies necessary to grow into successful professionals and potential Ascension associates.
There are internship opportunities in the following areas of focus: Technology analysis, Organizational Change Management, Application Security, Security Event Intake, DevOps Engineering, and Programming. The intern may work in multiple departments across Ascension Technologies, culminating in a final project or presentation.
What You Will Do
As an Ascension Technologies Intern, you will be able to work on real-life and meaningful projects, develop your technical skills, collaborate, and network with various teams across the IT Infrastructure and Security continuum. This work involves gathering requirements to understand stakeholder needs, defining models, researching evidence-based practice and outcome metrics, and receiving mentorship.
Essential Functions:
- Participates in technology-related projects
- Shadows employees to understand different roles in the organization
- Gains familiarity with different healthcare IT systems
- Research and data gathering for key initiatives
- Collaborates with technical resources to perform root cause analysis and complete remediation of technology issues
- Collaborates on driving improvement activities to achieve department and organizational goals
- Translates functional requirements to technical specifications.
- Supports issue escalation and resolution
What You Will Need
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, Marketing, Communications, Organizational Development, Project Management,
Preferred Competencies
- Practical analytical and communication skills
- Working knowledge of relational databases/database structures/schemas, data flow diagrams, and data specifications
- Proficiency with Google Office tools, including meetings, slides, and spreadsheets.
- Familiar with spreadsheet formulas and pivot tables.
- Strong Analytical Skills
- Experience with RDBMS systems and/or big data and Cloud.
