STV seeks a Senior Engineer to join our Transit Vehicle Engineering group to work with our clients on the implementation of zero emission technology for public transportation vehicles and the systems that support them. Will also provide Subject Matter Expertise on next generation of zero emission transit buses, intercity and commuter buses and BRT vehicles for various cities throughout North America.
Job Responsibilities:
Candidate will support all Centers of Excellence in addressing the needs of our clients who are public transit agencies planning to or currently operating electric, hybrid technology, alternate fuel technology and clean diesel technology rolling stock. Duties include any or all the following:
Experience:
Seeking candidate with minimum 20 years experience in a position which involved the management, engineering and work force development work with transit bus system implementation and research and development leadership with a top tier public transit agency. The ideal candidate will have experience with a major transit agency with responsibilities for a fleet of 400+ vehicles, or with a vehicle manufacturer or a manufacturer of bus or truck subsystems. Experience with truck or bus engines, propulsion systems, zero emission energy sourcing, vehicle dynamics, emission systems, vehicle dynamics testing would be a plus. This experience can also be from work at a distributor of vehicles or major subsystems or and engine supplier.
Qualifications:
STV seeks candidates who demonstrate superior written and verbal communication skills. Candidates must hold ABET accredited four-year Bachelor's degrees in mechanical, aerospace, industrial or electrical engineering. Candidates must be willing to undertake a wide variety of tasks and activities, demonstrate flexibility and a desire for a wide range of engineering experiences. Travel requirements can be up to 35% time for intermittent short periods, with most of the travel being same day trips to our client's sites.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to speak effectively before groups or employees of the STV and client organizations.

- Fleet zero emission strategy development, road and rail vehicles
- Zero Emissions Bus fleet deployment and provisioning
- Lead design reviews or problem solving on rail or road vehicle subsystems (propulsion, energy storage, HVAC, Propulsion, Braking, etc)
- Spreadsheet and database (MS Excel and Access) development in support of all activties
- Bus operations planning, facility optimization, energy sourcing strategies and expert consulting
- Bus maintenance and facility planning, layout and re-configuration for Zero emissions fleet deployment
- Test activities including test definition and success criteria, procedure development, data collection, data processing and report writing or review
- Provide support for field tests of rolling stock; at client locations and at test facilities such as the Altoona Test facility.
- Vehicle and system specification development
- Preparation of correspondence, reports and other documents
- Proposal preparation and client presentations
