Director, Communications Leader for Americas Client Organization

Join our Brand, Marketing and Communications (BMC) team!

We are seeking an experienced senior communications professional to serve as communications advisor for our Chief Client officer overseeing our newly formed Industry Group go-to-market teams. This Brand, Marketing and Communications leader will develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy that seeks to build our brand, establish the market visibility for our Chief Client Officer on client-centric industry issues, and drive client connectivity and employee engagement. The candidate we are seeking has a strong commercial focus, a track record of creating thought leaders and a passion for helping high-energy sales teams drive growth through marketing and communications.

The Opportunity

The role spans external and internal communications and is responsible for the overall communications for the office of our Chief Client Officer and our Industry Groups, serving on the Chief Client Officer’s leadership team. This Executive will work in close collaboration with the Americas Chief Communications Officer and Americas Chief Marketing Officer to ensure alignment of messages and strategy, will lead a multi-disciplinary communication team and serve on the Communications Leadership team. Strong leadership skills are critical, combined with the ability to build effective interpersonal relationships with multiple stakeholders, working effectively in a complex, matrix organization.

An understanding of EY’s business as one of the world’s “Big Four” professional services firms, knowledge of the major Americas markets and experience in professional services or a communications environment is essential. We are looking for a leader with strategic abilities, creativity, and financial acumen as well as a strong business intellect. The role requires a natural storyteller with a passion for innovation and sales.

Your key responsibilities

This Director-level role will oversee the development and delivery of EY’s internal and external communications and engagement plan inclusive but not limited to:

  • Serving as strategic advisor to the Americas Chief Client Officer and their core leadership team.

  • Creating an executive positioning platform and supporting campaigns for the Americas Chief Client Officer, including but not limited to thought leadership, earned and social media, internal communications, and awards and rankings.

  • Working collaboratively with the Americas Chief Communications Officer and Brand and Marketing leader and their teams to implement the Americas Chief Client Officer’s vision. Serve as a member of the Americas Communications leadership team and the Americas Chief Client Officer’s leadership team.

  • Driving a proactive earned and social media strategy to build the EY brand externally and engage with target audiences across industry groups and sectors.

  • Delivering engagement strategies beyond media with other significant stakeholders such as EY’s existing and potential clients, business organizations and regulators.

  • Enabling transformative change through strategic, inspirational and authentic communications. The organization being led by the Chief Client Officer has recently initiated transformation across our business and requires sustained, strategic communications to engage and inspire EY people across a large and diverse business.

  • Ensuring consistent internal and external messaging aligned with EY’s brand, purpose, values and global strategy.

  • Using an innovative range of channels and analytics to ensure communications are audience-centric and impactful.

  • Developing and coaching high performing communications teams.

  • Championing a culture that respects diversity and inclusiveness and rewards, and support creativity and innovation within the BMC function.

  • Managing team resources, agency vendors and associated communications budgets.

Skills and attributes for success:

  • Communications experience in a world-class global organization within B2B sectors, with 15 years+ experience in communications related roles.

  • Deep and current expertise in external and internal communications, and ability to convey this expertise to support others to progress.

  • Proven track record of effectively managing and enhancing corporate reputation.

  • Operational and business knowledge sufficient to contribute as a member of a senior leadership team.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership and consensus-building skills in a dynamic, matrixed environment with the ability to deliver results.

  • Leadership capabilities, experience leading and managing multiple, diverse and virtual high performing teams.

  • Demonstrated ability in developing operating plans and budgets.

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in managing strategic communications, preferably within a professional services firm or other large global companies.

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or similar area or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree highly desirable.

  • This role requires travel throughout the US.

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $254,500 to $490,000. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $305,500 to $556,800. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
