Department overview:
The Technology function, under the guidance of the CTO, provides the firm with market leading technology solutions for the purpose of executing client orders in addition to a broker agnostic GUI for order routing and risk management purposes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Technology Business Partner will work within Technology and report directly to the Global Technology Business Manager, based in London. Individual responsibilities will include:
Audit Management
- Act as the internal and external Audit point of contact for Technology in the region. This will involve coordination with partners in Technology, to ensure preparedness for upcoming audits and remediation of inflight audit points to time and to quality at all times. E.g. Information Security, Annual IT Audits
Business Resiliency
- Act as a liaison between the Global BRM/BCP team and local stakeholders in the Americas region
- Collect and maintain KRIs across multiple risk categories
- Ensure KRIs are accurate and up-to-date and communicate them to the global BRM/BCP team in London
- Collaborate with specific departments or teams within the organization to gather information and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of business continuity plans
- Develop and maintain a process for regularly reviewing and updating BCPs
- Provide support and guidance to local stakeholders on the implementation of global policies and procedures
- Identify and escalate any issues or concerns that may impact the organization's risk profile
Risk Management & Regulatory
- Determine applicable US and Canada regulations as they relate to Technology operating in an electronic and algorithmic trading environment and consider our level of adherence. The expectation is a partnership with Risk and Compliance in respect of FINRA and CSA regulations
- Root-cause analysis for technology incidents and near misses ensuring remediating actions avoid repeat of the same/similar issues from reoccurring
- Support IT DR testing and BCP/Business Resiliency for Technology in the region
- Support self-assessments to ensure that Technology delivers the required evidence and remediation plans on a timely basis, but also validate that the evidence provided is accurate
- Act as day-to-day contact person for Technology for other local functions
Governance
- Facilitate applicable governance meetings such that materials, discussion points, decisions and actions are documented. E.g. Technology Governance, Toronto
- Attend applicable governance meetings as necessary and any applicable actions. E.g. Vendor Management
Reporting
- Work with Global Technology Business Manager, Architecture and Finance to implement reporting which facilitates improved cost discipline
- Assist in the provision of regular and relevant Technology Management Information including daily, weekly and monthly management information;
- Support the Global Technology Business Manager in the:
- Update of policies and procedures
- Production of reports
- Identification, tracking and monitoring of actions relevant to key control gaps and remediation
- Attendance and minuting of meetings
General
- Provide other services, functions and responsibilities reasonably necessary or incidental thereto; and
- Provide all other Services reasonably requested by Instinet
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
- Excellent team player with the ability to use own initiative and provide prompt and practical service to stakeholders
- Knowledge of electronic trading processes and applicable regulations, such as FINRA and CSA
- Knowledge of risk management frameworks and previous experience with auditors or audits
- Proven analytical skills to decipher and analyse large amounts of data, whilst maintaining attention to detail
- Knowledge of Confluence, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint skills and other MS Office suite
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels. Knowing when to speak up versus consulting first with others
- Excellent Excel, report writing and analytical skills
