The Radar Technician Team Leader is responsible for supporting Supervisors in guiding a team of technicians, ensuring efficient and safe operations in the laboratory. This role involves closely working with the Manufacturing Assembly and Production Supervisors and assisting with daily work assignments, maintaining equipment, enforcing safety protocols, fostering continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring the utilization of up-to-date software versions and procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for modification, installation, and documentation of complex laboratory, experimental or commercial equipment.
  • Operates specialized equipment or performs tests requiring knowledge of processes.
  • Interprets general instructions, plans sequence of assembly, maintains quality assurance documentation, and prepares sketches and schematics.
  • May assist in the design of complex equipment and provide input concerning design or feasibility of developmental, test, or experimental equipment.
  • Operates specialized equipment and/or performs tests requiring knowledge of processes.
  • Responsible for execution of a set of laboratory experiments or for a complex laboratory function.
  • Records, evaluates, and reports data.
  • Summarizes test data via written tabulation, charts, and graphs, and prepares informal reports.
  • Diagnoses and corrects operational problems or trouble sources in equipment or tests.
  • Develops solutions to extremely complex problems that occur including assisting in the design of specialized components.
  • May initiate the procurement of standard materials, services, and parts required for tests and equipment, and provide necessary liaison in work area.
  • Required to deploy to various locations in support of customer operations.
  • Attends to daily activities, maintains project schedules, and works closely with Production Assembly and Manufacturing Supervisors.
  • When directed, assist Production Supervisors on daily employee task assignments based on production requirements, skills and schedule constraints.
  • Assist team members in resolving technical challenges and escalate complex issues to Supervisor when necessary.
  • Provides guidance and training to Radar Technicians in establishing operation, maintenance, and inspection procedures and techniques.
  • Ensure all equipment and tools are in optimal working condition and meet safety standards to include most current software versions and procedures.
  • Oversee the appropriate use of materials, test equipment, and tools to maximize efficiency.
  • Analyzes equipment failures to determine cause and recommends corrective action.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to maintain a productive and safe working environment in accordance with established operating procedures and practices and to collaborate with team members to ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and departmental regulations.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires associate's degree or equivalent with nine or more years of experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, problem solving skills and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with others.
  • Must possess the ability to resolve technical problems and serve as on-site point of contact.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the practices and procedures of production maintenance as well as leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Proficient in SAR systems, integration testing, and related technologies.
  • Knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent on the field required.
  • Desired Qualifications:
    • Training and/or experience from a military or a trade school highly desirable.
    • Knowledge of microwave systems, RF test equipment, vacuum systems, and/or complex machinery is desired.
    • Experience leading teams is desired.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required.
