Job description

Summary:

The Service Technician Team Leader is responsible for diagnosing and performing vehicle repairs and maintenance work as assigned and in accordance with factory and dealership specifications and time standards. The Team Leader is also responsible for guiding and sharing their expertise with other Service Technicians.

Essential Duties include the following; however, other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Carries out a variety of vehicle repairs from, but not limited to, oil changes to rebuilding a vehicle again.
  • Diagnose the cause of malfunctions and performs repairs, as needed.
  • Repairs vehicles per estimate and according to manufacturer standards.
  • Road tests vehicles to quality check work performed as required.
  • Examines vehicles to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
  • Maintains communication with Service Advisor/Assistant Service Manager (ASM) if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promise time.
  • Completes all work according to the applicable safety requirements and published procedures.
  • Documents all work performed and findings on repair orders and inspection sheets.
  • Achieves the production objectives set by management.
  • Provides the administrative assistance necessary to complete warranty repair orders and other tasks assigned by management.
  • Assists/guide other Technicians on how to diagnose difficult vehicle issues.
  • Dispatches jobs to Technicians based on work load and skill.
  • Discuss with Service Guests the diagnosis/repairs needed on vehicles.
  • Maintains communication with Parts Department on status of parts.
  • Maintains tools and equipment in a proper state of repair.
  • Maintains assigned workspace in an organized and clean manner.
  • Maintains a high level of grooming, hygiene and uniform appearance.
  • Performance other specific administrative functions as directed by the service management.
  • Maintains high ethical standards in all actions.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual should possess:

  • At least four years Toyota experience or 5 years equivalent technician experience or equivalent current off-brand manufacturer certifications. This experience must accompany the following current requirements: Suspension and Steering (A4), Brakes (A5), Electrical/Electronic Systems (A6), Heating and Air Conditioning (A7), Engine Performance (A8), Engine Repair (A1), Transmission/Transaxle (A2) and Manual Drive Train & Axles (A3).
  • Certified by a US EPA-approved Organization for AC repair.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance; federal, state, and local regulations such as those governing the disposal of hazardous waste; and mathematical principles, (adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying and percentages) and application;
  • Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles; determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it; read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, and legal documents; coordinate activities with other employees; pay attention to detail, read and comprehend instructions and information in the English language;
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record.

  • Stand for long periods at a time.
  • Frequently bend, stretch, twist, or reach with their body, arms, and/or legs; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects and use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs.

Hourly rate of $26.00 which can increase based on team productivity without any upper limit.
