Job Description
A Technician Assistant is an entry level position where candidates will assist with structured cabling and low voltage system installations, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and demolition tasks, while learning the skills necessary to advance in the Low Voltage Industry. As a Technician Assistant, you'll work with our install/service team to ensure projects are completed professionally and on-time. Career progression is important to us at Security Logistics, so expect to be challenged to learn new things on a daily basis, with the goal of working towards being a fully qualified Field/Service Technician.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or state-recognized equivalent. Some technical school training desired. Experience: Six to twelve months electrical and electronic equipment experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Capable of operating hand and power tools. Expect to provide own tools as a Technician.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, work extended hours.
• Valid state driver license with a clean driving record for the last three (3) years
• Dependable transportation, must be able to travel independently to remote projects.
• Must be able to lift 75lbs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of tools or unused materials.
• Ability to read and understand drawings, equipment schematics, and port charts.
• Install Structured Cabling (pull wire) and Low Voltage Systems (devices).
• Able to take direction from other installers, supervisors, and project leaders who are dedicated to a project.
• Report to work on-time and be reliable.
• Performs other duties as assigned; ability to work nights, and weekends, as needed.
• Accomplish tasks error free.
• Be able to plan out and complete wire pulls.
• Properly label cables and devices.
• Cleanup installation debris.
• Understand/know how to meter resistance and voltage
• Fish walls and drill out for devices while keeping aesthetics in mind.
• Using/be able to identify the correct material and hardware for the job
• Ensure you have the proper tools necessary to complete assignments.
License Qualifications:
• DCJS (Dept of Criminal Justice) Registration: Must submit fingerprints and be able to pass background check and complete Virginia DCJS Training.
Wages: Commensurate with experience
