Technical Writing & Documentation Intern (Summer 2024)

The Role:
The Technical Writing & Documentation Intern will work with the Autonomous Vehicles engineering and production teams in the generation of detailed documentation for manuals, manufacturing assembly instructions, and QA/QC procedures.
Location:
Richmond, CA
Responsibilities:
- Create comprehensive, user-friendly customer manuals on ASV assembly, operation, and technical support.
- Work with subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.
- Assist with the generation of QA/QC procedures and checklists.
- Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with consistent voice across all documentation.
- Work with development and support leads to identify documentation repositories, revise and edit, and determine best solutions for data compilation and centralized storage.
- Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that adhere to organizational and legal standards and allow for easy data migration.
- Perform other tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- Junior or Senior status in a 4-year university pursuing an English or Engineering degree.
- Ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter.
- Must be able to work both independently and in a team setting.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
- Ability to work with engineers to improve user experience, refine content, and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content.
- Ability to present complex data in clear, concise text and graphics.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
