Job description

SEACORP is seeking a well-qualified Technical Writer (SEAWARE Fleet Documentation).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Summary: SEACORP has animmediate opening for a Technical Writer with Fleet Documentation experience todevelop documentation for corrective maintenance procedures.  The Technical Writer completes process documentation, technical reports, user guides, and procedures. This person researches andanalyzes available literature, works closely with Subject Matter Experts(SMEs), verifies copy with appropriate reviewers, and may coordinate productionand distribution of materials. 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Develop technical documentation based on provided content and existing standards and templates; create new standards and templates where absent.
  • Produce documentation Research and analyze available literature and work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SME) to become familiar with product technologies and production methods.
  • Confer with customers, vendors, or publisher to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication.
  • Manage document version control using configuration management techniques.
  • Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
  • Develop document automation techniques to produce repeatable procedures with slight variations.
  • Select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material.
  • Organize gathered material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Arrange for production and distribution of material.
  • Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding.
  • Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers or establishment personnel.
    Manage access and internal communications to ensure end users have the ability to utilize the final documents for operational purposes.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

TechnicalWriter I - Associate's Degree in any field with 2 years of professionalexperience in technical writing/editing.
TechnicalWriter II - Bachelor's Degree in any field with 1 year of professionalexperience in technical writing/editing
TechnicalWriter III - Bachelor's Degree in any field with 2 years of professional experiencein technical writing/editing
Note: Advanced technicaltraining packages (such as Navy Advanced Training "C" School) can besubstituted for an Associate Degree.  AnAssociate Degree (or equivalent) and 10 years specifically-related professionalexperience can be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.  

Ideal candidates will also have:

  • Experiencein U.S. Navy programs or operations
  • Excellent time management and communication skills to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the exibility to adapt to tasking change
  • Prociency in Microsoft Oce, specically Word

As a requirement of employment, all SEACORP employees must hold U.S. Citizenship

Clearance:   Secret

Work Environment & Physical Demands:  Office & Computer Laboratories - Sitting, standing, extended periods of time using a mouse and keyboard and viewing computer screens. Infrequent lifting of <40lbs. Movement between points within the same office or between buildings. Work is performed in generally consistent environmental conditions with some seasonality for temperature differences and lighting.
