Job Description
Champions School of Real Estate is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to join our Curriculum Development team at our Houston Galleria Campus. This candidate will assist in the creation of the curriculum and content necessary for various online courses, books, and other educational products in the real estate, loan origination, inspection, and appraisal industries. In addition, the Course Developer will participate in the entire content development process – from researching requirements, developing learning models, and writing testing content. A background in education, technical writing, publishing, audio/visual, or instructional design, is preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Layout content for courseware and create textbooks
- Research content design requirements from both student and regulatory agencies
- Develop course content and verify accuracy with reviewers and subject matter experts
- Work closely with curriculum development team to develop completed products to include copy, storyboards, and assessments, learning activities, applications, and examples
- Interact with instructors and subject matter experts to review content
- Maintain new and existing content through ongoing data collection and input from students and instructors
- Collaborate with real estate, loan origination, inspection, and appraisal divisions
- Edit courseware modules and textbooks utilizing InDesign and Captivate products.
- Attend training and various meetings, as needed
- Assist Campus Manager with other duties or special projects, as assigned
Education and Experience
- Five or more years of experience in developing instructional content, preferably for online education.
- Degree in Instructional Design, Education, English, Journalism, or related field with equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet required deadlines
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment
- Excellent writing skills
- Ability to research, develop, create, review, and edit materials
- Proofreading skills
- Professional Appearance
- Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Adobe Captivate Suite
- Dependable with a stable work history
Required Work Schedule: Monday - Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Candidates will work at campus location)
Compensation: $48,000 - $50,000 + Monthly Bonus
