Job Title: Technical Operations ManagerABOUT VAI RESORT

The Role:

As the Technical Operations Manager and collaborating with the Senior Technical Operations Manager, you will oversee the development and execution of all technical production aspects. This includes ensuring the consistent and reliable operation of all technical systems, as well as providing advanced technical support. You will facilitate and maintain entertainment and audio-visual technical assets while managing inventory efficiently.

In addition to your extensive technical background, including an in-depth knowledge of advanced entertainment and AV systems, you will excel in staff and resource management, show production, and seamlessly integrating AV systems within a resort environment. You will be responsible for ongoing training of the technical entertainment team and their integration into advanced AV production and will play a key role in developing training standards and programs.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
  • Oversees the day-to-day workflow and output of the department, prioritizing and assigning projects.
  • Provides guidance and leadership on venue projects; creates and implements additional training and development as needed.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
  • Hire temporary or contract help as needed.
Responsibilities:
  • Produce, operate, and manage entertainment events of various scales across all property entertainment venues.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and mentorship to the AV/Production team.
  • Communicate in a professional manner with all team members, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Work harmoniously with all support departments to address entertainment and AV production needs.
  • Organize workflow to meet specifications and deadlines for events, including creating detailed production timelines.
  • Effectively communicate with the Senior Technical Operations Manager and the Director of Technical Operations.
  • Collaborate with the team to manage AV inventory and handle maintenance supply orders for event spaces, ensuring the efficient and timely production and delivery of AV resources.
  • Implement departmental policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain high production standards.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Demonstrates expertise in operating and maintaining advanced entertainment and audio-visual systems.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting technical issues and ensuring seamless operation during events.
  • 5+ years of large property AV System engineering.
  • 5+ years of knowledge and expert-level technical skills for AV control systems, networked audio, lighting control systems, networked video distribution, and digital signage distribution.
  • Experience with AV Systems, Q-sys control programming and deployment, QSC network audio, AV network infrastructure, Q-Sys lighting control, networked video distribution, Dante Audio, Aruba, Extreme Networks, Luminex networking, lighting dimmer switches, and BGM playback is required.
  • 5+ years of AV systems management in a high-tech environment or equivalent technical management role.
  • Theater, touring, convention, or large-scale resort experience is highly preferred.
  • Must maintain relevant knowledge of the industry through continuing education and training.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Hold a current OSHA 30 General Industry Safety Card.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to adapt to varying physical demands of the job, including working at extreme heights, and operating heavy equipment/machinery.
  • Perform tasks that involve lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects up to 75 pounds on your own.
  • Ability to move freely and safely within the workspace, including bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching for objects.
  • Activities may require sustained periods of movement, traversing, and positioning to meet event demands.
  • Hearing ability: Must have the ability to hear and interpret sounds accurately, including verbal communication and subtle environmental cues.
  • Manual dexterity: Requires proficient use of fingers and hands to operate equipment, handle tools, and perform tasks that may require precision and coordination.
  • Visual acuity: Must possess sufficient visual acuity to accurately perceive details, bring objects into sharp focus, as well as having color & depth perception.

  • Salary, exempt management role.
  • Starting Salary Range: $85,000.
  • This position is bonus eligible.
