Technical Design Intern

Mission of the Role: 

Visteon technology is at the heart of that transformation and is fueling the digital, electric and autonomous evolution of our global automotive customers. Our core products align with key industry trends and include digital instrument clusters, displays, Android-based infotainment systems, domain controllers, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and battery management systems. As a creative team member you will support the following:

Help us explore the development of RealTime graphics for automotive user interfaces. As we continue to grow the rich digital interactive experiences our design needs are evolving to an agile work model. As an intern you will be able to work onsite in our Grace Lake studio team and interact with local and global team members. This interaction is valuable to the creative process, design tool training and mentorship. You will be using the same design and development tools our global staff uses to take visual concepts into action based coded visual effects that can be tested on hardware.

 

Key Objectives of this Role: 

  • Learn to optimize graphics in 3D design workspace and perform with a high frame rate
  • Create motion graphics and action based visual effects
  • Find solutions to work more efficient with 3D graphics and HQ renderings
  • Learn about the design workflow of project setup and design specifications
  • Use production design tools (Adobe CC, Unity, Maya, Kanzi) for visual testing and development

 

Key Performance Indicators: 

  • Be part of the design team; Creative problem solving for visual content creation and contribute to the design of visual graphics for production vehicles and new concepts
  • Deliver optimized graphics using the preferred toolchain (That are software ready)
  • Work within design and software Sprints to meet deadlines
  • Create multiple visual concepts for UI/UX technology displays
  • Solve complex interaction design issues and present feasible proposals
  • Ability to review, present and work flow logic to graphic

 

Key Deliverables: 

  • Develop motion graphics assets
  • Create shaders for 3D and RealTime graphics
  • Create UI/UX content that communicated critical information to users
  • Resolve design defects during and after software integration
  • Optimize 2D and 3D graphics to support hardware specifications

 

Qualification, Experience and Skills: 

  • Graphics design experience
  • Skills in 3D design tools (1 or more: Example: Maya, Rino, Blender)
  • Some training or experience in 3D environmental rendering and animation
  • Basic 3D experience: Shaders, lighting, shadows, cameras development, overall rendering
  • Experience in Adobe tools: Photoshop, Aftereffects, etc.
  • User Experience: Logic and flow for user interaction (Basic)
  • Good understanding of design principles (layout, composition, aesthetics, visual acuity

  • Ability to work in a design review process
  • Understand, document, and communicate using design tech language
  • Review and approval process for customer
  • Think creative with an end consumer mindset
