Nature of Work
Under close supervision, at the entry-level, these positions perform professional work in a training capacity providing a wide variety of engineering services or creative works. The performance of these duties requires the application of special knowledge of the mathematical, physical and engineering sciences. This will be applied to such services or creative works as consultation, investigation, evaluation, and planning of engineering works and systems. These positions may plan the use of land and water and/or review construction projects for the purpose of assuring compliance with plans. Public or private works or services may be in connection with any utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment, processes, work systems, projects and/or industrial or consumer products or equipment of a mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic or thermal nature, safeguarding life, health or property. May specialize in a particular area of emphasis and assist on program development and technical support. These positions perform other professional services as necessary to the planning, progress and completion of projects. The duties of these positions may require occasional field activities. Perform related work as required.

- Learn to coordinate construction projects.
- Learn to conduct interim and final inspections of construction projects to determine compliance with applicable laws, regulations and specifications.
- Prepare and review plans, permits and/or contracts for projects; calculate material quantities needed for construction projects; recommend alternative construction methods.
- Perform data analysis to determine or establish performance standards/limits.
