Job Overview
We are looking for a technical writer to join our team to support parts books and technical materials for our forklift product line. The ideal candidate will have a passion for serving our customers with accurate on time information, and enhancing the forklift content development process within Komatsu business partners.
Key Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and define policies to support the customer experience.
    • Research and lead policy enhancement with Komatsu Japan and US business partners to support US sold product.
    • Establish policy rollout for assigned product with business partners.
    • Enhance workflow for content creation and delivery
  • Manage creation and lifecycle of Parts, Service, and Operator Manuals for Komatsu Machinery
    • Analyze engineering and service information for machine updates and new products.
      • Research Bills of Materials and engineering changes from the factory.
      • Review and resolve notifications from distributors and customers for repairs and corrections that apply to manuals.
      • Attend design and planning meetings for new products or features
      • Interview subject matter experts (SME) (Distributors, customers, internal personnel) for content creation
    • Manage illustration creation with business partners. Create illustrations as required.
      • Utilize 3D Cad (Creoview), 2D Part Drawings, and 2D Assembly Drawings for accurate data
      • Use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create and modify illustrations
    • Manage projects through Asana / Instagantt project management tools
      • Update projects and meet deadlines
    • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to support the products.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement
    • Develop new solutions through technology or systems to improve speed, accuracy, and quality of content creation and delivery.
    • Support department goals and initiatives
    • Other tasks as required by management

Qualifications/Requirements
  • 4 year college degree in Technical Communication, Engineering or related field, or 5+ year work experience equivalent
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude
  • Direct or related experience in: Adobe Creative Suite, Framemaker, OxygenXML (XML editor), CreoView (CAD viewer), ERP BOM mgt.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Product Suite. Basic script work experience a plus.
  • IT Savvy
  • Excellent English writing skills
  • Effective time management
