DigiPen Academys K-12 department seeks an experienced, reliable, and engaging K-12 Instructor/Curriculum Developer to join our instructional team. In this full-time position, you will be part of a dynamic team, teaching High School aged WANIC students in Redmond, WA. You will be expected to provide educationally engaging instruction tailored to each student's academic goals. The successful candidate will spend time in the classroom teaching and outside of the classroom developing various curricula to be used in one of our many STEAM-focused high school programs. In addition, during the summer and school breaks, the instructor will help the K-12 department.
POSITION: Tech AcademyGame Programming/Game Design Instructor
Essential Functions:
- Represent DigiPen to all students, parents, and school district staff
- Teach or assist in the instruction of DigiPen-approved curriculum and classroom management
- Engage all students in active learning
- Conduct student skills assessment as required
- Communicate with parents, peers, administrators, and students quickly and effectively
- Assist with promotional events to promote DigiPen Academy's Academic Programs
- Maintain a safe, productive, and friendly environment for all
Qualifications - Required Skills:
- Ability to adapt well to unforeseen circumstances and to remain calm under pressure
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfortable teaching and working both in an in-person and online environment
- Experience developing curricula and lesson plans for a competency-based instructional approach
- Ability to teach using a project-based approach to engage students and to assess defined student competencies
- Experience working on game development projects using commercial game engines, either as a team or independently, including Microsoft MakeCode and Unity
- Experience with various programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or Java
- Some experience with 2D or 3D design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Blender 3D, etc.
- Intermediate C/C++ programming knowledge
- Conditional or Continuing Education CTE Certification

Wage Range:
$55,000 - $60,000 per year

Working Conditions :
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling; some stooping, kneeling, and crouching; and significant fine finger dexterity. May need to lift up to 25 lbs.
Work Location: Onsite and remote as determined by DigiPen. Reliable transportation is required.
