Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Development and Clinical Program Manager using a wide variety of counseling modalities including Functional Family Therapy. The Team Specialist/SHINE therapist will exercise sound judgment in the treatment of children, youth, families, individuals and groups. Therapist will function as part of a multi-disciplinary team, while making appropriate independent clinical decisions for the benefit of the client(s). Serves as a consultant in their areas of expertise and is available for home visits as necessary. Works in a culturally sensitive manner and abides by the legal and ethical standards of the profession. Must exhibit cultural sensitivity and a trauma informed approach to services with program participants and staff.
Required Education and Experience
Bilingual (Preferred).
Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field required.
Masters-level training in child abuse and all other protective issues preferred.
Must be registered with BBS, must possess license or be license-eligible
Training in and mastery of family systems theory and application of diagnostic criteria from the DSM-5 and evidence-based practices
Must have training/background in conducting clinical assessments and in substance abuse treatment with youth.
Candidate must possess the ability to make sound clinical decisions independently. Must be able to apply clinical judgment, ethics, and accountability to formulate and implement treatment plans and other clinical documentation.

Ability to work with minimal supervision and focus on multiple duties.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer literacy required.
Must be highly organized, detail oriented, and self-motivated.
Demonstrates the ability to practice a wide variety of treatment modalities, and to exercise discretion and independent judgment in all areas of job performance including adherence to appropriate professional boundaries.
Provides expertise in areas such as sexual abuse, physical abuse, mental health, relational violence, substance abuse, physical health, education, vocational training, and community resources.
Establish and maintains effective working relationships while showing open mindedness and a collaborative spirit.
Strong skills in engagement, crisis intervention, case management, interviewing, rapport building, assessment, goal setting, and youth participation and development.
Demonstrates strong leadership qualities, including but not limited to conflict management skills and inter-agency and intra-agency collaborative skills. Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Off-site counseling requires own transportation. Willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of employment (mileage reimburse).
Successful completion of multi-state criminal background check, TB, and Drug Test.
Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
Utilize evidenced based practices including Functional Family Therapy to engage youth and families in participation of services that are client-centered, culturally appropriate, trauma-informed, in order to improve the short/long-term health, safety, and well-being of youth.
Utilize evidence based or promising practices as the preferred treatment modality for crisis management and safety planning, as well as individual and group sessions.
Carry a reasonable caseload required by funding source and provide responsive services in the office, home, and/or community setting.
Identify and strengthen positive adaptive interactions, utilizing FFT strategies and techniques
Provide family therapy sessions with fidelity to the FFT model
Assist in program development and resource identification.
Maintain confidentiality and privacy standards of participants' protected health information and other applicable information in accordance with HIPAA.
Perform behavioral health assessments in order to facilitate referrals and linkages to designated programs. These may include, but are not limited to: behavioral health services, mental health programs, substances abuse treatment programs, educational programs, employment opportunities, housing, recreation and physical activities, and other health and social services.
Work in tandem with other involved service providers to facilitate the youth's successful engagement in services and provide crisis management and counseling when needed.
Develop and implement strength-based individual and family case plans.
Provide family focused therapeutic counseling utilizing evidenced based strategies.
Provide crisis intervention and stabilization support to youth and their families.
Provide small group classes and programming for youth on topics identified in case and treatment plans such as anger management, life skills, youth leadership, job readiness and violence prevention.Work in partnership with identified treatment programs to support case plan goals, youth engagement in services and compliance to case plan and treatment goals.
Meet with youth and families in the homes of the youth, in schools, and in the community.
Facilitate and participate in outreach efforts as directed by program needs
Attend and participate in case conferences, program meetings, group supervision, retreats, committees, trainings, and other collaborative activities as necessary.
Track short and long term client progress in Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) or program-specific tracking system such as CSS as required by contract.
Enters case notes and document interventions and contacts with youth, their families, and identified service programs.
Ability to work independently and use good judgment.
Provide mentorship to interns/trainees and help onboard new staff as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Schedule/Compensation
- [FT- nonexempt position].
- [Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm, Minimum of 2 late days (11am - 7:30pm) per week and may include some weekends]
- 30.00-33.00 Salary will commensurate with experience and education. Differential pay offered for bilingual skills. EEO.

- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with a good driving record.
- Willing to use own, properly insured, reliable vehicle for the job (mileage reimbursed).
- Employment subject to clearances, including background finger printing checks, driving record, tuberculosis testing, and drug testing.
