Position Description
XPRIZE is seeking an experienced Team Relations Manager to play an integral role in the successful execution of the XPRIZE Water Scarcity Prize. This person will lead external communications with competing teams, partners, and the larger prize community. They will contribute ideas to the recruitment and ongoing management of competing teams, develop team status reports, manage and create content for prize newsletters, and prepare and execute webinars. They will liaise with IT on implementation and customization of the Prize Operations Platform (POP) for team recruitment and continued engagement. They will also play a key role in executing the Ideas Competition.
Team Relations Responsibilities:
- Support the development and execution of the team recruitment strategy in coordination with the operations and marketing team
- Lead ongoing team and ecosystem relations and management, including outreach and communication strategy
- Address complex technical topics and questions related to water desalination in collaboration with the rest of the operations team
- Maintain internal ‘intelligence’ on team activities, track milestones, and advise colleagues on media opportunities
- Content creation and management of prize newsletter, blogs, and online presentations
- Organize internal meetings as well as identify and participate in industry events to drive participation in the prize
- Manage teams at events including testing and conferences, etc.
- Manage Team Slack channel and other social tools to enhance communication between competitors and XPRIZE
Prize Operations Responsibilities:
- Will support operations team with general project, technical, and event management
- Assist in tracking and organizing of inbound public comments on the competition Guidelines as well as team inquiries.
- Organize internal and external meetings
- Manage the prize filing system within Gdrive
- End-to-end support for Prize Operations events (Team Summits, Judge Summits, Conferences, etc.)
- Assist with PowerPoint presentations and facilitation of meetings where necessary
- Assist in identifying risks at each phase of the competition and work with the operations team to develop mitigation plans
Ideas Competition Responsibilities:
- Support team recruitment and project management
- Support the judging process and the execution of awards
- Conduct outreach to schools and various educational institutions
- Lead communication efforts with teams and organize webinars
Qualifications:
- 4-6 years of relevant professional experience managing external communities, project management, competitions, and related projects
- Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent relevant experience
- Proven experience with community management
- Experience managing and customizing technology platforms
- Direct experience and knowledge in the domains of food, water, and waste and/or water desalination is preferred but not mandatory
- Curious, motivated, and interested to learn more about the rapidly expanding world of desalination
- Ability to lead or co-lead senior-level meetings, webinars, workshops, etc.
- Experience building and working with partner organizations, and external communities
- Excellent business and technical writing and professional verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and situational awareness
- Willingness to travel globally, often for weeks at a time, to testing and industry events as needed
- Ability to thrive and think creatively and calmly in highly fluid situations and under intense schedules and deadlines

The anticipated base salary for this position is $80k to $100k and may also qualify for an annual incentive. This role is eligible for our extensive benefits package and generous paid time off including vacation, sick, and holidays. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors including the qualifications of the individual applicant, years of relevant experience for the role, level of education attained, and certifications and/or other licenses held. XPRIZE is a remote-first environment.
