JOB TITLE:
Team Leader - East Hartford Middle School and East Hartford High School
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communication
- Develop norms, structures and team procedures for assigned staff. These norms should be prevalent and guiding principles for all team decisions, and relations with students/families. These norms should identify team behaviors, standards and expectations for students and staff.
- Attend Team Leader meetings as scheduled by administration and participate in solution based discussions regarding school direction, improvement and logistical issues.
- Communicate message between administration and team teachers with clarity and specificity.
- Communicate team needs to building administration as team representative/liaison.
- Coordinate with content Supervisor(s) or Department Head(s) as necessary and appropriate related to curricular issues, policies, proposals, grading, and budgetary requests (including requisition of supplies and materials).
- Coordinate plans or regularly communicating with parents. Maintain team parent contact log that evidences team efforts to engage parents.
- Plan written agenda and conduct all team meetings. Submit weekly minutes to building principal and appropriate parties by the end of each week (this may be delegated as a team duty).
- Designate and assign various leadership roles to team members as appropriate.
- Encourage interaction among members of the team and promote team cohesiveness.
Student Focus - Coordinate and facilitate team disciplinary model for students. (Ex. Team CTC, procedures for dealing with minor disciplinary infractions).
- Facilitate team plans for students as well as specific intervention plans (EIP, IAP, etc.) for students.
- Serve as liaison between the team and other support personnel i.e. tutors, counselors, etc., as directed by administrative team.
- Encourage participation of team members in the examination of the learning-teaching process and the development of learner and teacher systems which adapt the learning environment to current research and practice.
Logistical - Coordinate and facilitate (or assign a designated person to lead) all team events/field trips.
- Participate in orientations and coordinate team open houses during the school year. Attend and participate in the following but not limited to after school events: awards ceremonies, family fun nights, dances, recognition ceremonies, etc. Please note that Team Leaders are not expected to attend all events but should make an effort to maintain a team presence in after school activities as appropriate.
- Coordinate rewards/recognition opportunities for students based on the merits of academics and/or positive behavior.
Other - Assume such other functions as may be determined.
