Overview
The Team Leader Facilities III works under the direction of a Manager to coordinate and direct the activities in a unit/area of facilities maintenance services to ensure University facilities are properly cleaned and maintained; maximizing a healthy, safe, pleasant, and functional environment. Activities include personnel assignment, training and management, quality assurance, and inventory control.
Responsibilities
  • Ensures both the cleaning and maintenance of internal and external assigned facilities.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies, and makes or recommends purchases to meet the needs of the area.
  • Prepares employee work schedules; approves time off, monitors and enters time cards, and leave slips.
  • Organizes and conducts cluster meetings.
  • Participates in hiring, evaluating, disciplining, training, work allocation, quality assurance, and inventory control.
  • Trains and informs employees on new work methods or procedures, safety regulations, work policies, codes, and standards.
  • Conducts building audits and inspections to evaluate time management practices, and ensure that the quality of work consistently meets established procedures, safety regulations, and control standards.
  • Organizes and coordinates building workloads, and implements core cleaning and specialists cleaning practices.
  • Coordinates all events and major or minor projects, including deep cleaning, without interfering with residents or occupants of office space.
  • Works with internal and external customers to ensure that their needs are being met, and works to continuously improve the system.
  • Assists in the annual budget planning process, and regularly monitors expenditures.
  • Performs direct labor cleaning and maintenance duties as a working member of the department.
  • Enforces proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies
  • Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Promotes personal safety of crew members by monitoring, evaluating and enforcing safe behaviors.
  • Trains and informs crew members of proper safety guidelines, policies, procedures and behaviors.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two years of commercial or industrial cleaning experience.
  • Six months of demonstrated leadership experience in either an official or unofficial capacity.
  • Must be able to plan and direct small crew operations.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customers and coworkers.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three years of professional cleaning experience.
  • Experience in cleaning a large educational facility.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Knowledge of employee development and performance management skills.
  • Skill in the use of computers.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
