JOB SUMMARY

The Mental Health ProfessionalTeam Lead reports to the Assistant Program Director and Program Director, and is responsible for coordinating and overseeing clinic caseloads; and provides Mental Health clinical services, direct treatment services to patients, and case management services to clients. 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain a caseload of clients.
  2. Employees shall follow the reporting requirements for incidents of Child Abuse, Elder Abuse, Adult Abuse, Dependent Adult Abuse, and Tarasoff warnings per California reporting laws.
  3. Attend, facilitate, co-lead and participate in staff meetings and on-site staff training.
  4. Monitor, track and oversee annual re-assessments and treatment plans, and assign these to clinicians at site.
  5. Monitor and assign clinical assignments between team clinicians so duties are fairly distributed at site.
  6. Assist in reviewing case files to identify those that can be referred out to a community based provider for treatment.
  7. Maintain the therapy caseload for site, and triage cases that need to be expedited for therapy.
  8. Provide consultation to staff for high risk cases as required.
  9. Assign and coordinate group rehabilitation or group therapy services to on-site staff.
  10. Prepare reports and correspondence as required.
  11. Assign medical records questionnaires or forms between clinicians at site.  
  12. Document services to meet all clinical program and state requirements, including Short-Doyle/Medi-Cal requirements, noting significant intervention and progress toward development and attainment of a treatment plan.
  13. Meet with clinical Mental Health services staff for the purpose of reviewing client progress and to assure quality treatment planning.
  14. Review client files at discharge for completion, making written notes of findings, and review findings with counseling staff for the purpose of quality assurance.
  15. Attend and participate in staff meetings and on-site staff training.
  16. Provide direct services in the clinic, and in the community, including individual and group treatment, case management, and consultation.
  17. Consult with and/or educate community groups, and other agencies.
  18. Will drive on Agency business.
  19. Will think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies. 
  20. Physical presence at the office is required.
  21. Ensure direct report staff follow the agency’s timecard, PTO (Paid Time Off), and California’s rest and meal period policies. Will monitor staff timesheets to ensure they are completed accurately.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  1. Licensed Preferred: Currently licensed in the State of California as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
  2. Masters: A Master’s degree in behavioral health science with current registration as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) or an Associate Social Worker (ASW).
  3. Must be registered with Board of Behavioral Science (BBS).
  4. Demonstrated skills in clinical Mental Health services with individuals, families, and groups.
  5. Knowledge of mental illness and effective treatment approaches to mental disorders.
  6. Experience with co-occurring substance use disorders and treatment modalities.
  7. Communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
  8. Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken Spanish and/or Hmong is preferred.
  9. Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Office 365, Teams, Zoom and other communication/meeting platforms.
  10. Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws. Agency insurer authorization is required. 
  11. Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  12. Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, general physical, and TB test.
  13. Must maintain good relationships with current, future and past employees, co-workers, vendors, third party administrators, and others with whom the Agency is transacting business, and relate to them in a professional manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS FOR MHP TEAM LEAD

  1. Licensed in the State of California by the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage Family Child Therapist (LMFT), or Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) with at least two (2) years of post-licensure experience.
  2. Ability to provide direct Mental Health services to individuals, families, and/or groups.
  3. Knowledge of mental illness and effective treatment approaches to mental disorder, including evidence based practices.
  4. Provide administrative oversight of licensed or unlicensed Mental Health providers including in the areas of case management, treatment planning, coordinated care, etc. in accordance to standards set by Program Director.
  5. Provide effective communication and oversight to a team of clinical providers (up to 10), that consistently meets Agency mission statement and program objectives.
  6. Knowledge of and adherence to record keeping procedures related to physical health information, confidentiality, privacy and security in accordance the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  7. Must remain knowledgeable of the new developments in the Mental Health field including changes in laws and regulations.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS BILINGUAL SKILL DIFFERENTIAL

  1. Communicate effectively in written and spoken Spanish and/or Hmong.
  2. Required ability to communicate effectively with monolingual Spanish and/or Hmong speaking clients and families for all clinical purposes, including therapy and assessments.
  3. Assist with phone calls for Spanish and/or Hmong clients.
  4. Required to provide language translations for case managers and Physicians on a periodic basis.
  5. Minimal adequate competency in the Spanish language as evidenced by successful passage of the TPOCC Spanish Competency Test.
  6. Other translation tasks as required.
