Team Lead, IT DevOps Engineering position is a leadership and management position responsible for developing and leading the Tractor Supply E-Commerce DevOps engineering team and associated DevOps practices. This leader will be responsible for the management and execution of strategic and tactical initiatives related to environments, technology upgrades and business driven project releases in Azure cloud. This includes leading DevOps automation, building and maintaining environments, supporting production systems and overall agile & waterfall product delivery methodologies for E-Commerce team. This position is accountable for the leadership of a team of DevOps Engineers supporting the overall E-Commerce could environments & Release management practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
- Hands on leadership position that helps manage and lead ongoing evolution of DevOps to DevSecOps lifecycle for E-Commerce team and developing process with industry standards and best practices.
- Lead a team of 4 to 8 DevOps engineers including contingent team members to drive DevOps improvements, process standards, and tools adoption while support the existing platform as well as cross training resources.
- Collaborates with development, could engineering, release management team to ensure alignment and support across all team and maintain environments & optimize the usage & cost on need basis using optimal scaling strategy.
- Ability to engage in and demonstrate hand on DevOps experience in solving critical problems and guiding team on technical bridges.
- Accountable for developing & maintaining the CI/CD pipeline & improve the build and deployment process and reduce deployment time & enable fast delivery to production.
- Develop and maintain source control branch strategies, branch merge process and Configuration management tools.
- Effectively build, track and communicates Environment/Infrastructure issues, Code/Data Sync, Sizing needs, architectural designs to internal teams and present design options/considerations for operational efficiency.
- Provide day-to-day support of multiple environments, ensuring that these environments are properly setup, configured, and highly available for each team as scheduled.
- Assist in tracking patches and fix packs regularly across products and environments and test and safely roll out to production.
- Innovative DevOps solutions and solve technical problems and improve operational & cloud efficiencies through automations.
- Coordinate release activities with other teams (internal and external), partnering with the Change Management group to ensure a smooth and trouble-free roll out of releases.
- Employs strong DevOps principles and practices and continue to identify & improve DevOps process through automation.
- Mentors team members on new technologies in area of expertise.
- Participates in 24x7 on call rotations.
- Perform other functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 7+ years of experience in Software Development Management, DevOps, build engineering, release management, automation, agile software development methodologies & programming languages. Minimum 4 - 5 years' experience in designing and implementing Cloud platform, Multi region & Multi Cloud Architecture knowledge, strong hand on experience in Docker or Kubernetes solutions.
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer systems design or computer science from an accredited college or university. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
High Demand IT Specialized skills: Cloud PaaS/laaS environments (Azure, GCP) & Kubernetes Platform
Platform knowledge (UNIX, Linux, Windows): Azure Cloud Infrastructure & Kubernetes container technology platform
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
- Strong understanding of DevOps process and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
- High attention to details.
- Experience with version control (I.e., Bitbucket, Git), issue tracking & build/release management.
- Cloud Certified Expert - Either Azure, AWS or GCP
- Build, Configure & Maintain Cloud Environments through automation.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, work in a fast-paced environment and manage workload prioritization to deliver high quality work products on time with minimal direction
