- This job is a member of the Information Technology Team within the Information Technology Division.
- Responsible for leveraging cutting edge technology to solve business problems at American Airlines by participating in all phases of the development process from inception through transition, advocating the agile process and test-driven development, using object-oriented development tools to analyze, model, design, construct and test reusable objects, and making the codebase a better place to live and work.
What you'll do
- Act as Squad Lead providing leadership, technical and functional requirements and solutions to support the business needs.
- Facilitate all squad Agile Meetings including but not limited to Discovery Sessions, Iteration 0, Big Room Planning, Iteration Planning, Demo & Retrospective, Daily Stand-up, and Backlog Grooming.
- Collaborates with the Product Technical Lead to facilitate squad level design and technical governance, technical standards, coding standards, tools, and platforms.
- Collaborates with Product Owner and Manager on software vendor POC product evaluations and recommendations, and design and manage development of the technical solution.
- Leads effort of the team to support the Product model and Delivery Transformation goals Facilitate requests to IT shared services groups as needed.
- Provide technical leadership to the squad for planning, development, and testing.
- Support squad in Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment and Disaster Recovery Support Agile teams and ensure their adoption and successful use of Agile at American practices.
- Contribute to user story completion and squad velocity.
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
- 5 years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Experience in Project Management or Leading Software Quality Assurance or Development Teams
- Demonstrated experience in Agile and User Stories using Azure Dev Ops
- Experience in leading Java, Azure or other cloud development and deployment
- Previous Squad Lead experience a plus
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- Strong knowledge, understanding, and experience with Agile principles, preferably Scrum in complete software development lifecycle
- Ability to work effectively with developers, architects, project managers, business analysts, and business unit partners
- Must demonstrate technical leadership, and be able to work well within a team environment as well as independently
