Teaching Assistant Professor – Public Health

POSITION:The Public Health program, housed in the College of Education and Human Sciences at Oklahoma State University, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Teaching Assistant Professor of Public Health for the OSU-Tulsa Campus. The projected start date is Spring 2024. The successful applicant will join a collaborative team of faculty who work with and mentor our cadre of undergraduate students and graduate students (MS and PhD). This position reports to the Head of the School of Community Health Sciences, Counseling and Counseling Psychology.

The program is seeking a scholar who will build on the breadth and strength of its undergraduate and graduate programs and educational model while inspiring collaborative relationships both within and outside the university.  The candidate must demonstrate a deep commitment to and experience in a commitment to advancing all populations, developing and maintaining a strong curriculum, inter-professional and collaborative education, and progressive approaches to public health education and practice.

RESPONSIBILITIES:(1)teach eight course sections (4-4 load) per year for the Public Health Program (2)   design curriculum (3)   select appropriate teaching and evaluation strategies  (4)   align courses to accreditation, curriculum, program, and course outcomes  (5)   maintain office hours for students for mentoring, tutoring, remediation, and consultation  (6)   participate in service and recruitment activities

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Individuals seeking this position must possess the following:

(1)   doctorate in public health, health education, health promotion, community health, or related field (2)   ability to effectively teach undergraduate and graduate students (3)   ability to develop and deliver course materials via multiple formats (in-person, online, or hybrid)

(4)   commitment to creating an environment where all are welcomed

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

(1)   familiarity with national accreditation through CEPH (2)   earned or be eligible for any of the following professional certifications: CPH, CHES, MCHES, CPHA, CERC, CPAPHS, or CCHP (3)   experience with program assessment

GENERAL INFORMATION: The Public Health program is housed in the School of Community Health Sciences, Counseling and Counseling Psychology.  Our area is a dynamic, social justice-oriented school with strong support from the College of Education and Human Sciences. Our area offers unique teaching, research, and outreach opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration with Counseling and Counseling Psychology, Nursing, Gender Studies, Nutritional Sciences, K-12 education faculty, and the McNair Scholars program on campus. In the community, there are opportunities to work with underserved populations such as American Indians, gender identity minorities and/or sexual/affectional orientation minorities, and both rural-based and urban populations in and around Stillwater, and nearby Tulsa and Oklahoma City.  The school has strong local connections to school systems and community-based agencies.
