Who we are looking for: We are looking for a dynamic individual for the A Family Place Relief Nursery Therapeutic Early Childhood program. The ideal candidate will be mission-driven, sensitive, and respectful of all people, with a desire to make a difference for children, families, and communities served by LCS Northwest.
THE ROLE: This position serves to support the Relief Nursery Therapeutic Early Childhood classrooms through duties such as meal preparation, classroom assistance, and bus driving. This position also supports the Parent Education program with food purchasing and meal preparation. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work effectively with team members as well as with young children. This is a part-time position working about 24 hours per week. Bilingual preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Apply principles of diversity, equity, and racial justice for all families
  • Assist Relief Nursery Staff as needed including tasks such as assistance with child guidance and set up and clean-up of classroom
  • Menu plan adhering to USDA guidelines, specifically quantities served for each age group, providing detailed menus
  • Purchasing and preparing food for classroom and parent education classes, adhering to USDA guidelines, and dietary restrictions for individual children
  • Assist with the transportation of children as needed
  • Assist in documenting classroom notes and progress as needed by teaching staff. Provide a calm demeanor in crises
  • Maintain open, positive communication and promote individual/group problem-solving skills with children, families, co-workers, and the community
  • Model and encourage direct, professional communication among staff members and facilitate the development of a positive staff support network
  • Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity in the delivery of client services as it relates to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the populations served
  • Keep pantry stocked, cleaned, and organized
  • Cleaning kitchen carts daily and deep cleaning regularly

  • Ability to be very organized regarding paperwork, be detailed oriented and can effectively prioritize work responsibilities
  • Requires strict adherence to HIPAA standards in the office workspace to ensure client confidentiality

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED required. Lived expertise/experience in an early childhood program working with children and families, or an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or another related field is preferred. Bilingual Spanish/English is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: A current clearance from the Central Background Registry or the ability to obtain CBR clearance is required. Ability to obtain current pediatric CPR & First Aid, Oregon Food Handler's Card, Annual Mandatory Reporter/Child Abuse, and Neglect training within the first 6 months of hire. Must have a current driver's license, car insurance, and access to a vehicle.
