1. Health and Safety. Lead Teachers are responsible for following through on all policies and procedures regarding health and safety matters. These responsibilities include appropriately cleaning toys and other items in classrooms, safeguarding items that should be maintained out of the reach of children, administering medications when indicated by parents, and providing for the security of the class and each individual child.
2. Curriculum Planning. Lead Teachers are responsible for planning and implementing curriculum and activities in accordance with curriculum guidelines. Additionally, Lead Teachers are responsible for adhering to the schedules for all classrooms.
3. Observations and Evaluations. Lead Teachers are responsible for carefully observing each child; watching for developmental delays, taking note of developmental progress and evaluating each child’s development according to developmental checklists.
4. Paperwork and Record-Keeping. Lead teachers are responsible for maintaining all appropriate paperwork within the classroom. This includes, but is not limited to:, medicine forms incident/accident reports, emergency contact information sheets. Lead Teacher is to ensure these are filled out correctly daily and turned in at end of the da
5. Orientation of New Teachers. Lead Teachers introduce new teachers to the policies outlined in the Operational Procedures Manual and orient new teachers to the logistics and rules of the facility. Lead Teachers also train new staff on the ProCare App.
7. Supervision of Assistant Teachers. Lead Teachers serve as immediate supervisors of all assistant teachers or floats working in their classroom. Lead Teachers are responsible for providing verbal appraisals and evaluations of job performance to assistants when necessary.
8. Training and Continuing Education. Lead Teachers complete 15 hours of continuing education courses each year. Additionally, they take part in all internal training workshops.
9. Parent Communication. Lead Teachers are responsible for using ProCare during the day to update daily reports, send pictures, and reply to messages and other necessary and monthly newsletter.
Lead Teacher report directly to the Director. (Assistant Director and/or Office Manager, when the Director is not present.)
