Jeffco Public Schools (Jeffco) is located in Jefferson County, Colorado. It is the second largest school district in Colorado serving 69,000 students across 155 schools. ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT


Standley Lake High School is a comprehensive high school committed to academic excellence, community, and lifelong learning. We have a number of rigorous academic pathways open to students, including AP/IB classes, Performing and Fine Arts classes, STEM classes, and a culinary pathway, to name a few. Our goal for all Gators is to develop a growth mindset, be able to make connections, and explore diverse pathways in order to be ready to meet the 21st century with success. Standley Lake High School offers 14 different AP courses, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, and initial implementation of the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP). Standley Lake High School also offers a robust center program for Special Education students and second language learners with a caring and experienced staff.
Student athletic and activity involvement is highly encouraged through our 21 varsity level sports programs and a number of diverse co-curricular clubs and activities. Many of our programs compete at the national level, including our national award winning journalism newspaper The Lake, Poms, Speech and Debate, and our FCCLA chapter. The music program (vocal and instrumental) continues to thrive and has seen enormous growth over the past three years.

ABOUT THE JOB


The ideal candidate for this position will demonstrate the following skills and capabilities:
  • Collaborate with PLC members to design and deliver student-centered instruction.
  • Use the MYP conceptual framework, unit planner, and IB Learner Profile traits to focus instructional planning and delivery.
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to inform and improve instruction.
  • Collaborate with SPED and ELL colleagues to enrich instructional materials for diverse learners.
  • Collaborate with members of all departments, administration, and other school staff to support building initiatives and school goals.
  • Collaborate with counselors, administrators, and specialists to support building-wide Multi-Tiered Systems of Support efforts.
  • Communicate with students and parents to increase performance and engagement.
  • Attend IEP (and other) meetings and submit performance narratives as required by local, state, and federal directives.
  • Proctor required assessments (NWEA MAP, P/SAT, etc.) and critically evaluate data to improve instruction.
  • Create and maintain a safe and secure classroom environment for all students.

RESPONSIBILITIES


SUMMARY: Responsible for the delivery of specified course content. Responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth. This person is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that results in students achieving academic success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Orient students to their coursework and communicate course requirements.

  • Employ asynchronous and synchronous tools to supplement course content.

  • Create and deliver live and recorded instructional sessions.

  • Maintain regular office hours to provide students or parents one-on-one and small group support.

  • Augment course content in the form of remediation, modification, and enrichment.

  • Partner with special education staff to implement student's IEPs, ALPs and 504s.

  • Set deadlines for student work and grant extensions.

  • Attend face-to-face meetings with students and parent/guardian, as scheduled.

  • Grade student work, enter grades into an online gradebook, and provide course grade.

  • Communicate with parents as needed.

  • Collaborate with other instructional staff.

  • Administer school-wide assessments including CSAP, ACT, and Acuity.

  • Conduct student/parent/teacher conferences.

  • Attend (virtual and physical) and actively participate in all required staff meetings and professional development.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE Experience with curriculum, assessment, staff development, and online learning. Experience with effective use of technology with teachers and/or students supporting educational technology initiatives. Awareness, understanding, and application of a guaranteed and viable curriculum. Previous experience or current thinking about culturally responsive teaching that relates to achievement issues for all students. Demonstrated success using technology to ensure technological literate students.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING Valid Colorado teaching license or certificate. Advanced degree or comparable experience in content area.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT Must possess demonstrated skills in classroom and online implementation of best practices in instructional strategies, demonstrated success in working with learners, proficiency with Blackboard, and experience with leading online learning. Demonstrated leadership skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of
standard District technology, ability to effectively and efficiently use for a variety of purposes, and demonstrated success in using technology and information literacy in instruction. Willingness to learn new technology. Ability to help others make sense of and adjust to change. Must be flexible and have capacity for dealing with ambiguity. Willingness to work a flexible schedule. Must be able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability in interpreting assessment data collected from a variety of sources. Willingness to be a contributing member of the school.
