Position Overview: Montrose High School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated educator to join our team as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Work Based Learning Instructor. This role is ideal for a professional who is passionate about shaping the future of students and helping them achieve their hopes and dreams. The CTE Work Based Learning Instructor will play a crucial role in facilitating internship, apprenticeship, and work-for-credit classes, providing students with real-world experiences and preparing them for successful careers. This position involves collaboration with various stakeholders, community partnerships, and active involvement in career-related events. Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education and WBL Career and Technical Education endorsement.
- Teaching certification and relevant work experience in Work Based Learning programs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with community partners.
- Teaching Responsibilities:
- Conduct classes on Internship, Apprenticeship, and Work for Credit, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging learning experience for students.
- Collaboration with CTE Programs:
- Work closely with other MHS CTE programs to manage capstone projects, industry certifications, and contribute to the development of effective career pathways.
- Counseling Office Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the Counseling Office to address programming needs and assist students in making informed pathway decisions.
- Administration Collaboration:
- Work in tandem with the administration to develop new career pathways that align with industry demands and provide students with valuable skills.
- Community Liaison:
- Act as a liaison for community partnerships, fostering relationships with organizations for guest speakers, site visits, apprenticeships, internships, and job shadows.
- Student Opportunities Liaison:
- Facilitate student opportunities, camps, and academies both during the academic year and in the summer, ensuring students have access to a variety of learning experiences.
- Career Awareness and Employment Opportunities:
- Serve as a liaison for career awareness, connecting students with employment opportunities, and actively promoting student engagement in relevant programs such as Pinhead Institute.
- Career Events Planning:
- Take an active role in planning and organizing career events such as Pizza with Professionals, Stemposium, Future Builders' Skill Trades Expo, Financial Reality Fair, and more.
- Community Service Opportunities:
- Research, identify, and advertise community service opportunities for students, encouraging their participation in meaningful civic engagement.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- This position will require flexing days out during the typical academic year so that student internships can be facilitate and supervised over the summer.
The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions:
- Work is performed in a standard classroom setting with some work being performed at various District properties and off-site locations.
- Heavy lifting, bending, stooping, sitting, standing for long periods of time may be required.
- Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 5 to 25 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced.
- Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handling and working with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
