The Division of Adult Institutions is currently recruiting for an Adult Basic Education (ABE) & Math Teacher vacancy. This position is located at Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution in Plymouth, WI.

Position Summary
This position develops and implements a program of professional academic education and services to students in the area of ABE & Math in order to meet their assessed individual academic needs. Responsibilities include completing required documentation including student assessment/progress and other reporting requirements, monitoring and managing student behavior, attending staffing meetings, and serve on both school and institution committees. Upon request, this position will provide training to other staff, interns etc., and engage in specialized instruction and special projects.
Salary Information
Starting salary for this position is between $24.97and $30.59 per hour, plus excellent benefits. Candidates may receive supplemental pay, up to $2.97/hr, for additional credits relevant to the position that are over & above the credits needed for certification. Pay upon appointment will be in accordance with language in the Compensation Plan, Statutes, and Administrative Code. This position is in pay schedule/range 13-04. A twelve-month probationary period is required.
Job Details
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. DOC will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
DOC may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency to employment. Applicants who fail or refuse the drug screen will not be given further consideration for employment.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified a pplicants must meet criteria determined by the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) in Mathematics (804) as described below:
1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college including at least 20 semester credits in Math
AND
Applicants must meet criteria determined by the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) in Adult Basic Education (ABE). Applicants must meet one of the areas listed below
1. Bachelor's Degree or higher in Elementary Education; OR
2. Bachelor's Degree or higher in Secondary Education in the area of Reading, English, Math, Science, or Social Studies; OR
3. Bachelor's Degree or higher in Special Education; OR
4. Bachelor's Degree or higher with a minor or 15 combined semester credits in Math, Reading, English, Science, or Social studies. (Teaching degree preferred.)
*Recommend Teaching Methods course if no prior teaching experience or no credits in Teaching Methods
Note: This does not include Health, Art, Music or Physical Education for any of the above areas
Special Note: At the point of hire, the candidate must share evidence of having met (or contract to meet) Faculty Quality Assurance System (FQAS) competencies.
*Instructors meeting Educational Degree, and FQAS Competency Area requirements: Must complete professional development activities annually towards an "Individualized Professional Growth Plan." Instructors will choose opportunities in one of the following areas: Instructor Excellence; Student Success; or Occupational Currency. The areas will either be self-identified by the instructor or through observation by the education director as a growth opportunity.
*Instructors not meeting Educational Degree and FQAS requirements: Must be accepted in an approved accredited degree program, and obtain 3 or more credits annually toward the required "degree completion," and complete 1 of the 7 FQAS Competencies, until all 7 are met.
