GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Empire Capital Ventures(ECV) is a black-owned firm with a diverse team who is seeking an experienced Tax Reviewer, who must be a CPA/EA in good standing, to join our internal team as a part-time employee. ECV serves six and seven figure business owners who are seeking to create eight figures in wealth through advanced tax planning and wealth management through a racial equity lens. We are seeking a Tax Reviewer year-round who is able to self-manage, work as a team player and contribute to the overall growth, development and success of the organization.

This individual will be responsible for:
- Serve as the first level reviewer for Individual & Business income Tax Preparation
- Tax Return Look Backs for additional tax savings
- Monthly and/or Quarterly Tax Projections
- Creation of Tax Plans and Strategies
- Tax research on various topics to support client work
- Attending/Leading and providing support for regular client calls
The ideal candidate should be tech-savvy, have expert-level tax experience, including corporate tax returns, be able to communicate through multiple channels, and be very organized.
LOCATION & SCHEDULE
This role is remote. We use video calling and maintain a professional image while serving all of our small business clients across the country.
ECV offers time flexibility for our team. We expect this position to be committed to a part time 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST schedule, working 20-25 hours a week.
The following are the required business hour commitments:
- Mondays 2:00PM ET - 3:15PM ET
- Wednesday 11:00AM ET - 1:00PM ET
- Thursdays 1:00PM ET - 2:15PM ET
- Some regular ET and CT business hours availability for real-time written communications and ad-hoc meetings with colleagues and clients.
COMPENSATION
Compensation is negotiable based on experience and can range between $40/hr to $55/hr. This job does not include benefits.
JOB DUTIES
- Serve as the first level reviewer for individual & business income tax preparation.
- Perform technical review of Corporate, Individual, Trust, & Estate tax returns.
- Perform technical reviews of complex financial statements and special projects.
- Maintain and develop client relationships, presenting excellent customer-service skills to customers and clients.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients within various client pipelines.
- Communicate frequently with various team members to ensure fulfillment and documentation of client deliverables.
- Appropriately handle confidential employer and client information.
- Work closely with various team members to provide feedback on current systems and workflows.
- Manage digital filing systems, update client records, and organize documents.
- Be the advisor to clients by communicating and educating our clients on how to reduce taxes and improve their financials.
- Understand and apply tax reduction strategies by preparing planning materials for the client.
- Continuing their education and staying current on new tax laws and strategies.
- Other duties as they may be assigned by management.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
- Must be a CPA/EA in good standing.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- 5 years of progressive experience at the senior tax or manager level reviewing complex business tax returns.
- Proficient computer skills, including Google Suite (Docs, Gmail, Slides, and Sheets) and Microsoft Suite (especially Excel), cloud services, and other technology tools.
- Familiarity with a project management system, online collaboration, and experience using it with busy teams.
- Highly organized and able to multitask and work well with fast-paced directions and instructions.
- Able to manage time effectively and efficiently.
- Able to organize and manage large amounts of files, tasks, and information.
- Self-directed and able to work without supervision.
- Team player with an eye for detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service and presentation skills.
- Able to be flexible in schedule, potentially working nights, weekends, and extended hours as agreed upon.
- In depth knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop/Online and Xero.
- Proven interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with both internal and external team members, as well as exceptional client relationships.
You must be a CPA/EA in good standing in order to qualify for this position. Candidates who do not currently have a CPA/EA designation will not be considered for this position.
