Summary: A virtual CPA firm in Santa Monica, CA looking to welcome a part-time tax reviewer on our contractor team as we strive to grow our business. We are a boutique firm in growth mode. This contractor position is 100% remote and the candidate will need to have a quiet, private area to work in her/his home. This is a great opportunity to work with a growing team.

Contractor Responsibilities:

• Review of Corporate, Partnership/LLC, Trust, and Individual Tax Returns
• Use UltraTax and TaxDome to review Tax Returns, to help verify the accuracy of Tax Returns, and collaborate with team members and clients as necessary to ensure completeness of Tax Returns
• Review Tax Plans for clients using Planner CS and Excel
• Familiarity with accounting and bookkeeping procedures
• UltraTax, TaxDome and possible QuickBooks/QB Online experience a major plus
• Check relevant tax law using the firm’s online research tools to ensure proper compliance
• Ability to work independently and work on a Tax Return from start to finish (from data entry to review checklist)
• Strong attention to detail – must be able to analyze prior year return and compare to current year return
• Excellent communication skills – ease of communication with team members within the firm, as well as clients via emails and/or calls. Ability to assess workload capacity threshold and clearly communicate any needs for support, clarification and guidance
• Great organizational skills – including ability to multi-task and handle multiple Tax Returns throughout the season within a growing firm, time management and strategic, creative thinking
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
• Tax Preparation Certification, Enrolled Agent or CPA license preferred
• Use cloud-based software to communicate with team members and track the progress of open jobs (Outlook/365, Slack, Zoom, TaxDome, Asana, Google Drive for internal document organization)

Pay Rate:

• $25/hour+ (negotiable based on experience)
• Up to 20 hours per week during busy season (February - April)
• Possible hours after busy season, to be discussed during interview

Skills & Qualifications Required:

• 2-5 years of experience with tax software, UltraTax experience preferred
• Five years (minimum) of experience reviewing 1040, 1120 and 1065 Tax Returns
• CTEC license, EA or CPA preferred
• Must ensure confidentiality
• Must sign an NDA and non-compete agreements
• Reliable Internet & phone with quiet and private workspace
• During the interview, contractor should be prepared to demonstrate basic knowledge of Tax Return preparation and review and be prepared to describe their current Tax Return review process

Preferred:

• CPA or EA designation or working towards
• Bachelor’s in business administration, finance, accounting or a related field
• Experience with UltraTax tax software
• Experience with TaxDome

Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal, Contract
