This role reports to the Indirect Tax Manager who is responsible for sales tax and property tax compliance including audits, property tax payments and filing sales tax returns.
Key Responsibilities
- Running reports in Oracle and SAP
- Cataloging and resolving tax notices
- Speaking with taxing authorities on non-complex tax issues
- Preparing various tax documents
- Performing various special projects at the direction of the manager
Essential Responsibilities
- Running tax reports
- Writing operating procedures
- Creating and maintaining tax related spreadsheets
- Organizing folders and files on the shared tax network
- Provide copies of invoices and other tax related documents for tax audits using internal software applications
Professional Experience/ Qualifications
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
- Preference for students who have completed three years of study.
- Ability to extract data from various systems and create reports.
- Intermediate proficiency with MS Excel creating pivot tables and v-lookups.
- Good written and verbal communication skills are necessary for the role. The intern may occasionally need to interact with colleagues and taxing authorities to get and provide answers to job related questions.
- The role requires careful diligence while reviewing reports, spotting errors, or reviewing calculations.
- The ideal candidate is collaborative and open to working with others or working under the direction of the tax manager.
- Initiative and willingness to learn and embrace new concepts related to taxes.
- Ethical conduct and confidentiality are important as tax interns may have access to sensitive financial information. Maintaining confidentiality is important.
