Under the general direction of a National Business Audit (NBA) Supervisor, the Program Specialist I is responsible for independently conducting audits, leading team audits and investigations. These audits rank as large, complex, and/or sensitive. The purpose of the audit is to determine that taxpayers have correctly self- assessed themselves in accordance with the Bank and Corporation Tax Laws, or to initiate such changes as may be required. The incumbent is expected to conduct audits in an efficient and effective manner and to clearly articulate multifaceted information, while acting as a specialized subject matter expert in corporate tax law. The incumbent is expected to maintain the confidentiality of data received or developed during the audit In accordance with the provisions of the Security and Disclosure Manual, work within the framework established by the laws and related legal Interpretations administered by the Franchise Tax Board (FTB) and be consistent with the policies and procedures established for guidance within the NBA Bureau and Audit Division.
This position is eligible for remote working within the Chicago metropolitan area, based on departmental guidelines and operational need. Some in-office presence required. FTB has a minimum in-office requirement of two days per week for all positions including those that are eligible for telework.
