Tax Attorney

The Tax Attorney is a key member of the Unilever North America tax team reporting to the Tax Counsel and responsible for U.S. federal and state tax general research and planning support; legal support for U.S. and state tax compliance; and legal support for U.S. and state tax audits, controversy, and related matters. The role is part of the global Unilever Tax Organization and requires work with Unilever tax and non-tax colleagues around the world. A high caliber individual is sought who would be capable of performing the following functions.

• Perform tax legal research, advise tax and non-tax personnel on general tax issues and support the Tax Counsel and NA Tax Colleagues on related ad hoc issues as needed.
• Analyze changes in tax law, including preparing memoranda/files notes summarizing such changes and impact (if any) to Unilever.
• Provide tax technical support for corporate restructurings / other business change projects, tax planning analysis, and M&A.
• Provide business partnering support to operating units, e.g., tax treatment of charitable contributions and travel, employee compensation, and travel and entertainment policy.
• Provide tax technical support to federal/state tax return compliance processes, affiliate transfer pricing, and audit management processes.
• Provide tax controversy support with respect to both U.S. federal and state tax litigation, appeals, MAP / APAs, and similar matters.

What You'll Need to Succeed

• JD and LLM (Tax Law) (or LLM in process) are required
• 1-3 years of relevant experience at a law firm, Big 4 accounting firm, or with a multinational enterprise
• Strong tax technical, problem solving, and analytical skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills

Pay: The pay range for this position is $96,000 to $143,900. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.
Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.
Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
