Tasting Room Associate

Description

As the Tasting Room Associate at Black Button Distilling, you will be an ambassador of our products while serving our craft cocktails, providing superior customer service, and building brand fans. You will need to perform money handling responsibilities, assist with opening & closing the bar/Tasting Room, stocking & inventory transfers, preparing food platters, and keeping the Tasting Room neat and clean. All while bringing smiles to our customers faces help with building lasting relationships. Shifts will generally be scheduled between Wed-Saturday 10am-9pm and Sunday 10a-5pm.

The goal of the hospitality department is to provide amazing customer service and serve delish cocktails and treats. Additionally, to share our company story, educate on our products, generate return visits, influence bottles sales and additional purchases, and encourage positive reviews.

You will be successful in this role if you are passionate about spirits, the community and delivering outstanding customer service, adapting to the quickly changing environment and working hard to positively impact all.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties:

• Serving as a mixologist at the bar
• Serving as a Hosting
• Perform tastings in the Tasting Room
• Assisting with pack outs and online orders
• Performing proper point-of-sale transactions and cash handling
• Provides genuine, friendly, courteous, professional service to all team members, distributors and customers
• Selling bottles and assisting with retail sales in the Tasting Room
• Educating customers on mixology and product knowledge
• Sharing the company's history with community members
• Assist with set up and break down for events and groups
• Provide a superior guest experience
• Completion of opening and closing checklists
• Ensures that the room /event space is prepared to present the brand at its best to the visitors
• Assist in the set-up and take-down of any equipment, product, and marketing materials
• Providing distillery tours
• Utilization of problem-solving skills when situations do not go as planned
• Provide constant communication with team members
• Other duties as assigned in support of the business operations and as assigned

Qualifications
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Prior experience with bartending and mixology is preferred
• Knowledge or passion for the craft spirts industry and products is preferred
• Experience with customer service and/or event management is required
• Sales experience a plus
• Flexibility and multi-tasking are required
• A collaborative team player that demonstrates proactive initiative
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that promotes cooperation with customers, collaborators, vendors, team members and management.
• Comfort with ambiguity and change, demonstrating a calm demeaner in challenging situations
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all times, through written and verbal forms
• Open availability and flexibility within schedule, including weekend and early evenings
• Dependability and punctuality is a must
• Demonstrated passion for distilled spirits, knowledge of spirits considered a plus
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Practice 100% compliance with all TTB & NYS Liquor Authority laws and directives at all times

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to frequently lift at least 30 lbs, up to 50lbs on occasion
• Constant standing for 8 hours at a time
• Ability to frequently pull, pack, load and stack items
• Ability to frequently twist, bend, reach, squat and lift
