Job Description
Job Description – Infrastructure Engineer
The IBM Research ETE organization will provide the buildout of systems in
the POK building 008 datacenter. Responsibilities would include installing
new servers in accordance with IBM security standards and
project/operational requirements. Maintaining and improving compliant
processes and procedures for; installation, configuration, operations,
maintenance and support. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the
integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, key system
processes, and reviewing system / application logs. Create, change, and
delete user accounts per request. Investigate and troubleshoot, repair and
recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate
with impacted constituencies. Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular
basis, upgrade administrative tools and utilities as necessary.
Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure
applications or management applications per project or operational needs.
Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource
optimization as required. Maintain data center environmental and
monitoring equipment.
Required Professional and Technical Experience
·System building/debugging/testing skills
·System Engineering experience in at least one; Linux, AIX and
Microsoft Windows
·System Security Administration
·Software engineering practices including agile techniques
Preferred Professional and Technical Experience
·Systems Engineer certification in Linux and Microsoft
·Experience in HPC Cluster environments, Parallel Filesystems and
Storage
·Experience in system automation tools (Ansible)
