The System Security Engineer will perform system hardening and conduct day-to-day Cybersecurity operations, to include assisting in RMF activities.
The salary range for this role is $85,000-90,000 annually with a significant annual retention bonus offered
Responsibilities:
- Conduct technical planning and systems engineering to ensure cyber compliance and security posture with respect to availability, integrity, authentication, confidentiality, and non-repudiation of critical system information.
- Support the RMF in the development of technical artifacts, engineering documentation, network drawings, and use of A&A tool sets.
- Identify, report, and assist in the resolution of security violations and ensure that all ISs are functional and secure; recommend CS solutions to support requirements.
- Provide decision analysis, evaluation of alternatives and design and test support.
- Conduct day-to-day CS operations and maintenance of computer facilities and IT resources including network support, server support, instructor and student support for hardware and policy development and enforcement.
- Apply software patches and patch sets during maintenance windows including OS patches released from DISA and available on DISA's patch repository website.
- Upgrade software, and conduct regression testing to ensure upgrades/patches have not adversely impacted the system.
- Implement CS best practices per the NSA and the DISA STIG for all aspects of system architecture in the authorization boundary including OS and network interconnects.
- Support the development of a strategic CS framework by conducting R&D that focuses on the identification, disclosure, and mitigation of existing CS deficiencies, analysis of emerging threats and timely delivery of security solutions for systems.
- Work with the appropriate test teams in the implementation and testing of applicable IAVAs. This shall include building RMF Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M), and update of the program's CS residual risk documents.
Requirements:
- CEH or Security+ certification
- Secret clearance required.
- TS/SCI preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of cybersecurity experience in performing system hardening.
- Demonstrated experience with performing STIG implementation.
- Demonstrated experience performing vulnerability assessments with the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) tool.
- Demonstrated experience remediating vulnerability findings to include implementing vendor patches on both Linux and Windows Operating systems.
