Job description

WWC Federal is seeking a System Administrator for a temporary, short term role supporting the Global Air Transportation Execution System - Deployable GATES (DGATES)/ Remote GATES (RGATES) system support team. The System Administrator will support users in a critical transportation logistics system for the DoD. They will be the public face of IT to internal and external customers to ensure end user experience surpasses expectations
Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor GATES Servers, which include Windows Based and UNIX.
  • Perform Systems Administration on GATES software and components
  • Perform Systems Administration services on Oracle DB, and the User Interface (Web based Apache)
  • Install patches and s/w updates on all GATES components
  • Respond and follow up on technical help tickets submitted via phone, email and ticketing systems.
  • Provide IT support troubleshoot on Windows, Solaris, Linux systems, with a variety of other technologies to include WebLogic, Apache Server, Oracle RDMS and toolsets like Remedy and IBM CLM.
  • Independently investigate and implement solutions to technical issues .
  • Manage troubleshooting efforts for Level 2 escalations and analyze problems that require Level 3 support.
  • Be familiar with ITIL methodologies and how day-to-day work efforts will integrate with service delivery processes.
  • Convert customer interactions (phone, email, remote, in person) into the Help Desk ticketing system.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of applicable hardware/software configurations.
  • Assist all customers with their questions/problems to the best of their ability, in a professional, timely and courteous manner - where associate is unable to provide a response/closure, it is the associate's responsibility to escalate and provide a clear and smooth transfer to escalation points with Level 3 Development Support.
  • Follow Help Desk procedures and policies.
  • Logging, updating, maintaining, harvesting, capturing knowledge and updating documentation of all Help Desk interactions
  • Correctly and appropriately prioritize work requests based upon various inputs and ask for help/guidance where required.
This position is temporary and is expected to end on or about 1 July 2023.
Work Environment:
  • Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone and printers) and /or occasional Loud noise (airfield, large equipment).
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to work in confined areas.
Physical Demands:
  • While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to sit, stand, talk, and hear.
  • Employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to operate a computer.

Travel:
  • 0-10% / Minimal travel expected: offsites, meetings, training, a conference.

Requirements
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or appropriate vocational or apprenticeship training or prior relevant work experience.
  • Experience working in a Help Desk environment.
  • Knowledge of Oracle DB, Web Logic or Apache User Interface.
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability and strong documentation skills, and demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. WWC Federal will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a Department of Defense environment is preferred
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II compliant certification required (e.g. CompTIA Security+, CCNA-Security, GICSP, GSEC).
  • Current, active Secret security clearance.
  • Working knowledge of Global Air Transportation Execution System (GATES) desired.
