Description:
The primary duties and job focus of this position will be to design, implement, and maintain all server systems and associated hardware and software and to manage these systems to ensure a reliable, secure and cost effective Information Technology infrastructure and operation. The Systems Administrator/Dev Ops will work with application developers to ensure proper design and functionality of servers and applications as well as automate processes using scripts, custom software, and web pages.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Information
- 3+ years of hands on experience and strong background in Linux systems administration, preferably with RedHat Enterprise, CentOS, and Ubuntu in addition to Microsoft Windows Server environments. Experience must include building and deploying servers, installing, maintaining, and patching Linux and Windows operating systems, and supporting production applications in a 24x7
- Strong working knowledge of complex web hosting configuration components, including firewalls, load balancers, web, and database servers
- Experience in a programming language and aptitude to learn new technologies as needed. C# experience preferred.
- Proficiency with and understanding of virtualization on an enterprise level, preferably using VMware ESX in addition to proficiency with Cloud server environment.
- Scripting and automation skills are an integral part of our environment. The ability to maintain, enhance and create tools to help in these areas is required.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees the day-to-day operation of servers including hardware/software support, diagnostics, and special projects.
- Ensures 24/7 High Availability on all systems and applications.
- Collaborates with Software Engineers and provides technical and procedural direction regarding server design, database design and selection and other areas as needed and requested to ensure proper functionality of software applications and programs.
- Builds and maintains the servers and associated hardware and software required for development work, internal testing, customer testing and production environments.
- Documents, maintains, and enhances existing servers and associated hardware and software including, but not limited to: Local servers (physical and virtual) and remote servers and Applications.
- Analyzes and troubleshoots the server logs and tracks the nature and resolution of problems; monitors usage to ensure security of data and access privileges.
