Under the direction of the AFRC OCIO, EUSO CRM/SME, or their delegate, provide the AFRC customers with the capability to obtain and install software applications that are essential to their work, but are not available in either the desktop gold build software or center software overlay. Serve as the individual responsible for the managing, scheduling, evaluating and installation of non-standard software applications and hardware at AFRC. Provides support for customer software testing in the NEST Development Test Lab (DTL) if one exists and coordinates these activities with the customer and the EUSO CRM/SME or designee. Serve as the individual responsible for other end-user support services (on NEST systems) not provided by the local NEST contract at AFRC, as stated but not limited to what is listed further in this document. The proposed support arrangement is for a System Administrator 2 dedicated to supporting IT needs of AFRC Code 640 (OCIO).
Basic Qualifications:
Mid-level systems administration support. Applies advanced knowledge of concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments. Performs work that requires advanced practical experience and training. Under general supervision, responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations and servers, including virtual, cloud, as well as web servers, in support of business processing requirements. Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. Supports media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services. Develops and promotes standard operating procedures. Conducts routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and
configuration guidelines. Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.
The requested services include:
- Local desktop and laptop (Windows and Macintosh) management and technical support for the Center Director, Executive Staff, Office of Center and Directorate Conference Room.
- Ensure DCR and travel computers have the correct configurations and exemptions where applicable.
- Coordinate with the Code 100 IT Manager and install Adobe Acrobat Creative Cloud licenses required for Code 130 interns for each internship session.
- Mobile support (e.g., smartphone, tablet)
- Support for Code 100 Directorate mobile devices and synchronization with mail exchange
- Print service support via print server
- Installation and configuration of Agency mandates
- Installation and configuration of any software and/or security updates when applicable
- BigFix Mini-Admin for Code 100 Directorate, reporting changes to the software assets on end-user devices.
- Installation of any Center-managed acquired software.
- Coordination of hardware repairs with Enterprise-managed hardware technicians including diagnostics, and troubleshooting of the hardware problems
- Ensures security incidents are closely coordinated with both the Agency Security Manager and the Code 100 IT Manager and that all security incidents are brought to closure quickly.
