Job Description
We are currently hiring multiple energetic Swim Instructors who have a passion for kids and the water. Must be able to work 2 shifts per week (min 8-10 hours) and be available 1 weekend day minimum. Prior swim experience is not necessary, but a willingness to learn and have FUN is a must! Paid training is provided!

- Providing continuous feedback to students and parents weekly after lessons

- Once per month required to attend paid in-service & training outside of regular working hours.
- All of our teachers are also lifeguard certified - This does not mean that candidates will be required to work a lifeguard shift -
Job Title:Swim Instructor/Lifeguard
Reports to: General Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: Ensures the safety of patrons of the Goldfish Swim School by preventing and responding to emergencies. Wears the required Goldfish Swim School Lifeguard uniform while on duty including PPE and a rescue tube.
- Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an accident or emergency.
- Communicate the rules of the facility to patrons fairly and consistently.
- Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Ensures that medical services (EMS or other) are contacted by most appropriate means when necessary to respond to an emergency.
- Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintains a high standard of customer service.
- Completes accident/incident reports as necessary.
- Maintains a clean and safe facility as directed/assigned.
- Assists with closing and securing the facility.
- Previous swim instruction or swim coach experience preferred for teaching position, but not required.
- Experience working with children.
- Relate well to children, parents, team members, and have great communication skills.
- Must have or obtain AED/CPR/First Aid certifications as a condition of employment within 90 days (Courses are provided by facility staff once per month, limited exclusively to Goldfish Swim School staff members!)
- Shallow Water Lifeguard certification - Ellis preferred, Red Cross accepted
- Required to attend monthly trainings to keep up with certifications

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or childcare provider required. Two or more years as a swimming instructor required. Swimming experience preferred.
Certificates and Licenses: Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certification required. Shallow water attendant highly recommended.
Work Environment: While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to indoor heat, humidity, and chlorinated water. Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
