The SVP, Managing Director is an integral senior contributor to Venture Banking team at Pacific Western Bank. The Venture Bank provides a best in class set of solutions to the innovation and private equity ecosystem. With practice groups that focus on Technology, Life Sciences, and Venture Capital/Private Equity, the Venture Bank delivers a suite of treasury and credit related products meeting the needs of entrepreneurs, business operators, and fund managers The Venture Bank delivers a high quality, industry focused client experience through building meaningful relationships with market participants.
A successful Managing Director provides a high level of communication, industry expertise, and banking knowledge to their clients and prospects. The individual will have significant internal visibility and will be expected to manage a large loan portfolio.

National Base Pay Range (annual): $174,907.20 to $378,938.56

Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of structuring, negotiating, underwriting, obtaining credit approvals, legal documentation, and closing for all existing clients.
- Managing Directors are the key communication conduit with all internal partners to ensure the best possible outcomes for both clients and the Bank.
- The Managing Director will be expected to negotiate and present to senior credit committee all aspects of a lending opportunity.
- Will deliver on budgeted financial performance for deposits, loan commitments, loan outstandings, and cross sales of related banking products and services, all while ensuring strong credit quality of the loan portfolio.
- The individual will also be expected to have excellent internal communication skills, working with Global Treasury Management, Client Services, and Loan Closing teams to ensure all parties are coordinated for high quality outcomes. Collaborate with junior Client Managers to actively manage the credit risk of the loan portfolio.
- Be an active member of the Venture Banking ecosystem and participate in high quality events.
- Lead a small/medium team, providing career guidance, coaching, annual reviews/feedback, and the like to ensure that junior team members grow in their careers and become subject matter experts.
- Collaborate within a broad team environment on a national level.
- Actively participate in interviewing and hiring decisions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Minimum of 12 years of venture banking and/or financial services experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- Creative and strategic thinker with excellent problem solving and organizational skills
- Ability to exhibit professionalism and a positive attitude under pressure
- Ability to work independently yet collaborate cross-functionally in a team environment
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities, projects and relationships simultaneously
- Proven success in managing client accounts
- Review and be knowledgeable of departmental and human resources policies and procedures
