Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available
- Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and other supplies
- Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure to prevent infection
- Monitor the patient's vital signs and assist with positioning and draping
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and other team members during the procedure
- Handle specimens for laboratory analysis
- Clean and restock the operating room after each procedure
Requirements:
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (preferred)
- Basic life support (BLS) certification
- Knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and equipment
- Familiarity with anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Understanding of infection control protocols and practices
- Experience working in an ambulatory surgery center or ICU setting is preferred
- Ability to accurately analyze and interpret information from various sources, including electronic medical records (e.g., Epic)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
