Surgical Technician

Responsibilities:
Surgical Technician duties will consist of, but are not limited to:
- Secure and prepare all supplies required for surgical intervention.
- Ensure the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field in OR.
- Perform surgical counts according to center policies and procedures.
- Prepare patient skin for surgical treatment.
- Help monitor patients during surgery.
- Provide supportive care during the pre-operative phase.
- Perform surgical functions to assist surgeon during surgical procedure.
- Collect and label specimens taken during surgical procedure.
- Follow all federal, state, and departmental safety procedures.
- Maintain a proper sterile field during surgical procedures.
- Provide technical assistance to surgeons, surgical nurses, or anesthesiologists.
- Prepare patients for surgery, including positioning patients on the operating table and covering them with sterile surgical drapes to prevent exposure.
- Hand instruments and supplies to surgeons and surgeons' assistants, hold retractors, and cut sutures, and perform other tasks as directed by surgeon during operation.
- Prepare, care for, and dispose of tissue specimens.
- Wash and sterilize equipment, using proper products and sterilizing techniques per manufacturers guidelines.
- Monitor and continually assess operating room conditions, including patient and surgical team needs.
- Operate, assemble, adjust, or monitor sterilizers, lights, suction machines, or diagnostic equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Disinfect all the equipment and tools used after the surgery.
- Assist with Cleaning and turnover of the operating room after the procedure.

- 2+ years experience preferred
- BLS certification
- Familiarity with all surgical instruments and equipment
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Working knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique
