ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Surgical Technician to deliver the full range of company services to patients including, but not limited to, refractive, cataract, PTG, and dry eye treatments. Position is dynamic and roles will vary between surgical tech duties as well as patient counselor focused services. Responsibilities include direct and indirect patient care, medical records management, recovery support, maintaining the medical space, coordinating with doctors as well as maintain communication with immediate supervisor at all times. It is of the upmost importance that the candidate respect patient privacy and adheres to respective regulations.
DAILY TASKS
Assist as surgical tech:
o Complete the necessary arrangements for OR prior to surgical procedure by testing and cleaning equipment, ensuring sterilization and proper set up of equipment
o Ensure proper handling of delicate lasers and equipment before, during and after procedures
o Remove, clean, disinfect and/or sterilize all equipment after surgical procedure
o Return equipment to clean in proper order ready to use; Ensure unused disposables are returned to stock and all equipment is put away
o Bring any defective materials to the attention of Quality Assurance
o Process all paperwork (i.e. Work Orders, Purchase Orders, and Inventory) in a timely and accurate manner
o Prep patients as well as provide pre- and post-op instructions for all company services
o Store, date and rotate supplies according to company policy
Assist in clinic duties as a patient counselor upon Surgeon request:
o Obtain chief complaint and last visit information
o Obtain Visual Acuity, auto refraction, topography, orbscan/Pentacam; OCT & ASCAN in the case of cataract patients
o Consult with patients to inform them about their procedure
o Input initial patient data from consultation in the computer
o Perform upkeep of exam rooms to ensure they are neat and clean in appearance
o Liaise with patients including returning calls, proactively following up with no show or cancelled surgery for rescheduling, or attending to will call backs to try and schedule surgery
Work in conjunction with on-site doctors on matters related to patient care including supporting in translation
Maintain open communication with immediate supervisor at all times
Daily check of voicemails and e-mails as per company policy to ensure timely communication
Provide excellent customer service at all times, arriving to cases on time and prepped
Attend meetings and trainings, as may be required
QUALIFICATIONS
Team player, able to handle multiple tasks under challenging deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy
Strong work ethic including setting and achieving goals; Able to work under pressure and to be held directly accountable
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish
Dependable multi-tasker, able to contribute in across a wide range of tasks in a fast-paced environment with consistency and follow through
Positive attitude supporting an open professional environment
Professional and respectful in treatment of patients and coworkers
Ability to operate office equipment
Exceptional customer service skills
Ability to work flexible hours with an on-call schedule

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.31 - $32.00 per hour
