Position Summary:
- ·Certified Surgical Tech work under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
Reports To:
- Director of Allied Health Professionals
- Surgeons of contracted medical facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.
- Understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
- Ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field
- Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure
- Scrubs, gown up and glove up.
- Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure
- Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed.
- Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure
- Assists in prepping room for the next patient
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Surgical technologists graduate from surgical technology programs accredited through ARC/STSA and or institutions accredited by agencies recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE).
- Current and active certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist, valid on state applying for.
- Minimum of two (2) surgical tech experiences.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure in a stressful environment, and often without relief.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of anatomy relating to the surgical procedure and the instrumentation required in order to effectively anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
- Ability to set priorities and respond appropriately to actual and/or potential life threatening
